I'd be curious to know what a parbolic mic could really pick up on the playa, with its legendary noise. Are they affected by ambient noise? As for night vision... image intensifiers. While they have surely improved since I peered through them for Uncle Sam, the flashes and bright lights that dot the...

don't claim to be any kind of guru- just a retired Electrical engineer! The math is a bit puzzling. Did you actually measure the 7.08 amps or is this an assumption that a 85 W amplifier running at a loud level was running at 85 Watts. Music peaks and drops a lot unless it is steady loud techno music...

Well here is what the test showed, from the charger that has a % charge meter. The battery started with roughly 60%, after being untouched since last burn. (Plausible? Could the charger be wrong?) Charging led to a plateau of 79% charge. I then ran the amp, a Toshiba TP-873 85W x 4 Channel for six h...

Gel cel battery question
Hello! I used a 12V 100aH AGM battery to power the sound system on my quad cycle last year. Worked like a charm. We plan to use a solar trickle charger this year. Well, I didn't keep it hooked up to a trickle charger since last burn! Now it won't take a full charge. The manufacturer said it never wi...

Also, tie onto every grommit! If you just use the corners, you risk tearing. I've done the following; Secure a PVC pipe to the ground by tying it to rebar or stakes. It's lying flat, parallel to the edge of the tarp I want to secure. Tie each and every grommit to the PVC. Now the load from wind is d...

Hola! We've made these domes every year. The work fine, and are endlessly adaptable. 2" PVC makes a stiff dome. 1 1/2 " PVC is doable. Secure them to the playa! Right after they go up! Last year we were beat after errecting them, and rode off in a playa haze to have fun. Calm air not a hint of breez...

I ran a 1/8" headphone jack > splitter > RCAs. The car amp I had took four RCA ins, two reds and two whites. Sound was fat. I powered it off of a 100 amp-hr gel cel battery. Heavy thing at around 100 lbs, but powered the amp nicely. The amp, speakers, and battery all went on the platform of our quad...
