I had a funny experience when I went to see if I could get one of these "self winding" flashlights at my local surplus store. The guy (who was ostensibly selling them!) told me they were crap. They aren't very bright nor are they reliable. Instead he sold me a (cheaper!) little LED flashlight that h...

I've had a lot of cool people respond to my truck idea. It's giving me the opportunity to get to know and help out a lot of cool people. I really like that. As a result, we're probably going to load up with 4-5 burners, at least 3 of us will be first timers. I think I'm looking forward to this a lot...

Hi Master Jedi Dale! You wouldn't happen to have any of that Force left over for a novice enthusiast who appears to have unusual and interesting obstacles placed before her, would you?

Yes, that's another good question. I figure I'd want about 20 gallons of potable water, too, but how does one manage these things?

I'm also interested in helping with costumes. I have nebulous resources right now, so I don't want to commit to funding. My experience is in period work, but I've done random stuff of all stripes, from animal headdresses to paper mache armor. In keeping with the theme, I'd really like to do some rec...

Re: Why you should NOT go to Burning Man

... many people regard burning man as one GIANT GODDAMN DOPE PARTY AND FUCKFEST, goddamit, and they will not be dissuaded in their determination to squeeze every second of dopin' and fuckin' out of the experience. When I first heard about BM, it was from some of these people road tripping (pun inte...

Hi there

I'm Christie. I've heard about you guys for years. I'm finally to the point where I'm ready to throw all caution (and vacation time) to the wind and finally make it out there. Although, living in the bay area, I've heard a lot of people talk about it, I don't really know anyone who's going, so I'm v...
