I'm just getting back after a multi-week motorcycle trip. Yeah, water seems the way to go with cleaning chains on the Playa. I use one of those chain washers like you buy at a bike store. Works great. Just don't use the little bottle of oil they give you. The Garden Sprayer?...That could work. I use...

"Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel." Free flag lapel pin on the playa next year to the first one to correctly identify who said this! Samuel Johnson And I think HughMongus got it right. I personally respect our flag for many of the reasons already expressed. Yes I'm a Vet.'s ...

Whew! It's taken me about a week to get through this topic. And at that, I've only skimmed some of the longer posts, while reading most of the shorter ones. I answered the poll before I read them, and my opinion has not changed. I'm one of those who said it's sort of OK. I'm not opposed to themes re...

I've been taking out my XT4.5 Dobsonian for the last three burns. If you keep it covered when your not using it, and only use it when it's not too windy, then it gets surprisingly little dust in it.

that said, binoculars, green lasers, and lounge chairs, are the way to go on the Playa.

The Bike Recovery Camp was actually a group from Los Angeles. They left on Sunday, and brought the bikes they had recovered, AND the forms that people had filled out to Playa Info in Center Camp. Playa Info then continued collecting bikes and lost-bike-description forms on Monday. On Tuesday, the Bl...

[quote]On the 4th we camped with Tech camp for a night. My GPS was on WGS84 map datum. My "camp" was about ~200' north of their perceived center and read N40.76702 W119.22787 on my GPS. They indeed said that this is approximately where center camp would be this year. When I load this into Google, it...
