Please don't make the mistake of thinking that volunteering for DPW is a way to get your dog in to the event. I bought 70% block aluminet. It is mylar mesh, and has not so much as a small tear in it, after using it the last two years. Really holds up in wind, and allows critical ventilation. They weren't all black like that one. Some of them seemed to be formed purely of playa dust. Why only on Sunday and Monday and not all week long?

I saw these things popping up everywhere, at the end of the experience, on Sunday and Monday (which is when I filmed this one).

Answered my own question there with a little search.

I wonder how segway walkers would fair on the playa. I've never been so I don't know if they have been there already. Once again they probably need a noisy generator to recharge them.
