hmm, interesting ideas. i think the salt water from the ocean may damage / fade the material, that's just a guess. car wash, yah that's an idea. could bring a large container and use a high pressure spray on it. interesting.. this might be sort of a location specific question here.. i have a large approximately 20 by 50 foot spandex material (possibly larger i'm not exactly sure) that we used for a chill tent. my friend soaked and rinsed it 4 times already in the bathtub. she let it dry and it still puffs out playa dust....

The other times I went the situation was different.. 3 of the times, there was a moving truck going up that collectively we put all our extra camp stuff in that wouldn't fit in the car, and the other time it was just two of us in an SUV. So... Never been an issue before now :-)

Thanks for the insight everyone... I suppose I'm going to do some more calculations and we might just take another car for driving and use the MV for most of the gear.
