Re: Making Storage Pouches In a Canvas Tent
Thanks. Im so much closer on my search than I was in the beginning. Biggest challenge is finding things that have zippers/sleeves which have a "lid" or cover to it which you zip closed. Self-contained seems very important for MOOP. Also found some storage for on-site garbage sorting (I usually do it...

Re: Making Storage Pouches In a Canvas Tent
DoctorIKnow, Thanks for the item referrral. Since this velcro might go onto the tent's canvas "walls", Im still down to not knowing what I need to sew (hand sew) things onto a large canvas piece like that. One canvas company mentioned a sewing awl as something that could pierce canvas well enough fo...

Re: Making Storage Pouches In a Canvas Tent
Try one of these: wardrobe.jpg Yeah. I seen those but they dont appear to pack down (fold up) so it might become an issue when transporting it. Definitely looking for a cot like someone says they use since my air matress just on the ground is an ordeeal to physically rise from bed each morn. I like...

Re: Making Storage Pouches In a Canvas Tent
Thank Bob and Jackasss! These are the very things I was looking for but had no idea what they were called. Obviously not a camping item so even my camping equipment retailers didnt seem to have something like it there. They look like they could break down. I guess I just have to get some zip ties. A...

Re: Making Storage Pouches In a Canvas Tent
Might help to state the style and brand of tent. Also, read your manual. If it has internal tie points, use those. Otherwise I'd avoid compromising the canvas cover. In a high wind and/or rain your articles hanging off the sides may pound against the cover and cause leaks or rips. Dollar stores aro...

Making Storage Pouches In a Canvas Tent
Hello there I am heading out to playa this year with my 6 person canvas camping tent. The tent has held up for a nice year at Burning Man but I do want to upgrade and add storage to the tent to be more efficient with my tent space inside. So, I wanted to build zip pouches into the tent for things li...

Re: Who plans on submitting tickets into STEP program?
I applied for one ticket during the pre-sale...and got it. Im very happy but there is one obstacle that still puts me hanging in the balance of happenstance...... My car I only have this one car. It needs a few repairs and possibly new tires before I head Home. Im a freelancer so my income is unpred...

Re: Official "I've been awarded tickets" Thread
As previously mentioned, I am having problems typing from both my sheer excitement and my consciousness that this very thread could feel like gloating, but... I GOT MY FIRST TICKET (of 2 which I need) !!!! Totally an interesting experience in getting my ticket this year compared to previous years. C...

Source for Reflective Cloth/Fabric
Im working on some "roofing" for my tall tent which might keep the sun off of me just a bit more. Anyhow, I was looking for reflective fabric like this photography lighting reflector: http://www.inventgeek.com/2009-projects/diy-40inch-silver-reflector/DIY-40Inch-Silver-Reflector.jpg http://www.flick...

As the year ramps up, there will be more interest. Keep on bumpin'. I suppose there is some sort of limit on bumping a thread, as far as netiquette and eplaya etiquette goes. So yeah, not trying to annoy people. I know that auto parts seem like quite a random component of an art piece. I just keep ...

Gonna bump this thread. Looks like the moderators moved this into another section which is good. If anyone has an idea, let me know. So far, it looks like if no one needs it for an art installation or as parts to a a theme camp structure, I could probably contact my local Community College and see i...

Art Installations & Decor "Parts": Just Tossin
Dear ePlaya, After some extensive cleaning of our jackal lab, we are finding lots of stuff that are not needed in our home. If I was a welder, some of this stuff would be perfect for visions I have of my own regarding camp decor or even art installations. Im very much about recycling material for "f...

Actually I found the opposite was true. This was my first burn and several things I brought (from recommended lists and forum posts) I didn't need. ... Yeah. Is it my imagination or does it seem that many people don't want to actually *read* any more? Not just read but comprehend. That comment doesn't just pertain to new burners..... With so much effort and information put into the website and on eplaya, some newbies should come away with something. Cha...

Re: Burning Man changed my wife!
My wife came up with the brilliant idea of going to Burning Man in 1999. I thought, why would I go to the fucking desert for fun? I eventually gave in. On our first night, we experienced near freezing temuratures and (reported) 120mph gusts, which tore our camp apart...the next morning, as I was fi...

I cant even consider myself a veteran but I do think that its pretty much a given that being underprepared is not an option at an event like this. Really, I do think the misconception of this being one big party (and/or orgy) is driving people to come here who basically think its like any other even...

Yup. I seem to only be able to go every other year (Went in 2007 and in 2009). Still, Im glad I didnt go. It would of been too stressful and I think I would bring that stressful vibe to the playa, which is not a place that this kind of sentiment belongs. Stego (my boyfriend) and I will be aiming for...

Re: Plastic Cobalt Bowls - Source?
I have no idea what you mean by a straight line between base and mouth. What size do you need (circumference and depth)? I would estimate that the size and circumference which works best would be a 14 inch circumference with something like a 5 inch depth. All the other parts that have been complete...

I really hate to refer that evil store Wally-Mart, but they are clearancing out all that stuff for the end of the season, and I saw those for a dollar there. Have you tried a store that specializes in plastics? I don't know how thick you need it to be, but you might get some thinner weight cobalt plastic sheets & then heat-form them into the shape you need. Try either TAPP Plastics in SF or Canal Plastics in NYC. I've had great luck with both places, an...

[quote="Eric"]It sounds like you may have to rethink the idea, or put it on the back-burner (so to speak) for this year. If you need an incredibly specific piece to finish a costume it can sometimes take months to find it. I've been there. For Burning Man outfits I tend to go for the closest to my v...

Plastic Cobalt Bowls - Source?
I am currently building a costume head piece and am looking for something very specific to complete it. Simply, Im looking for a plastic bowl that has the curvature (in other words, it cannot be a straight line between the base and the mouth of the bowl). The bowl is going to have to be SEE-THROUGH ...
