Re: Hof Party, 2018, July 13-15

road update: I've been up there a few times now, the "new" route in is more "dirt road" but pretty decent, except the last mile or so. That last mile is as bad as the other route was. So, yeah, big rocks, if you have a low car you'll need to "pick your line". But, the bad section is shorter, so ther...

Re: The Bar 2018 Edition

HI gang! yeah MDF, sparks rising indeed. I wish you all the best of times! I'm gearing up for work at the Hof, and of course the party on the 13th weekend. the alternate route in is ok. The last mile or so is just as rough as the other way, but it's shorter on the "roughest" part. More dirt road, bu...

HI MDF. awe, that's nice of you to say. yeah I'll miss chasing hippies, for sure! and yeah, it'd be fun to meet up post Burn in Reno! I know some years there are many folks who spend a few days in Reno after. I'll see if I can get Speedbump or someone to haul your cook stove wood out, if you still n...

Re: Going Early -Staying Late ! Get in my Van

Anticipating EAP and want to volunteer some labor and sweat to my camp and neighbors. I'd make sure about the "early entry" pass, and where it's coming from. As for staying late, I think there is a cut off date that if you're not working for the ORG., you have to leave. Not saying you're doing anyt...

a lot would depend on construction materials, and what is expected to, or can, happen within? that said, I'd say a proximity activated airlock, air or hydraulic operated door. Airlock to maintain what I'm expecting to be some sort of atmospheric conditions inside? If not proximity activated, one wit...

Re: Evaporation System: Copper

Copper is a good conductor of heat. I was thinking of building a row of about 10 copper pipes that channel to a single pipe where grey water comes in. If left in the sun I would think these would heat up pretty hot. If I run the water through then at a slow enough rate I wouldn't even ned to pump i...

The four wheeled surfers do not fall into the allowed categories. You do see them out there, because Gate didn't confiscate them and the BLM hasn't felt like pursuing them just yet. https://burningman.org/event/art-performance/mutant-vehicles/vehicle-rules-and-protocols/ one small pedantic point: G...

Re: Post-playa maintenance?

my biggest issue, and it's more long term, is corroded electrical connections. Too late, I found a marine spray, that seals them against salt water, so, I'd imagine it's good for dust. Bare metal will rust. I don't see the reason, to change fluids outside of regular intervals. Your engine etc. is se...

That Thing In The Desert,
The guy with the hat,
Go to the Black Rock
You'll know where it's at.

He helped to create it,
we made it our own,
Cacophonous pilgrims
But never alone.

So raise your glass high,
Through blood, sweat and tears,
A tip to "the Hat",
for all of the years.

Re: Mini Fridge? Chest Fridge? What's your zero-ice solution?

What about a propane fridge? There are even some that will do all of 120VAC, 12VDC and LPG. I have one I took out of an old camper and use it at my Hof. works great. just set it on a table in the shade, with a 5 gallon propane tank and regulator attached, and it'll be good for well over a week. A t...

Re: Solar charging controller for truck battery: PWM vs MPPT?

Looking for some playa wisdom on our current conundrum: Our 2004 Nissan Titan was kept in storage with a small solar battery charging setup for about a year and 4 months. Re: Mini Fridge? Chest Fridge? What's your zero-ice solution?

good advice here, and options. I'd caution you about gluing insulation to the outside of a freezer. Some models have the heat exchanger tubing on the outside walls, and if those are insulated/covered, they can't get rid of the heat. You'd probably want to confirm where the freezer unit dumps the hea...

Yes as Popeye suggests, just send me a check. A blank check, you can trust me :P can you be trusted with a Czech? Completely  I really am nicer in person...usually :coffee: Yarite. we could ask our Czech eplayan (s)? One thing for sure, you're flowing and graceful as you move about a campsite.
