That picture gives you your bare bones, now ready for playa-fication. Also keep in mind that (if you were to go with a couch) three people politely swinging in it may be followed by five people acting like fools in it. Don't pick up an off-the-shelf unit without planning to strengthen it in many way...

Jigglator
I'd like to thank the originator of this thread for helping me crystalize a notion for a new playa project. Look for "The Jigglator" on the esplanade next to Illumination Village. It will involve a lot of springs; because, since we can't stop our jiggling, we might as well have fun it. The jiggle-ph...

"giggity"
The thing about "giggity" is that it's what we are. Try considering that "no giggity" can only be the result of someone wearing a popular B/D harness playing on an erotic fetish for an unmoving body.

Post-slaughter
In the middle to late Nineties, the Aesthetic Meat Foundation was part of the inimitable flavor of BRC. Their rituals sometimes involved a sort of food fight involving gallons of pig blood. Their camp is probably best remembered for the rotting pig heads typically staked around its perimeter. I am a...

Not-so-green
An alternative of sorts to the green pavilion will be presented next to Illumination Village. "Kill the Earth" will be the theme of the installation. But wait; isn't this note also shameless self-promotion? Now maybe I'll have a hundred-kazoo orchestra jamming "Kill the Earth"! "Farmer Brown, are yo...

usual suspects
The usual visible thousands of large corporate logos will be present; U Hual, etc. The usual number of corporation sponsored theme camps will be present, typically (I'll guess) 100 or so. Also as usual, you won't see corporate logos announcing this to be so. Nor will you see corporate logos in the a...

My favorite parade
Most of the people on the playa were kind of mosying around in their playa finery after the fashion show, thinking about burning the Man pretty soon. A well known rainbow shaman started making a bit of a racket, saying, "Hey, Why don't we all parade from here to the Man. It'll be sort of like a ritu...

Perhaps a revived Pinky's would work better if allied with a return of the Aesthetic Meat Foundation. Call it Pink Pork.

While I look forward to reading the book from which the forward is excerpted, it is a very good thing to be able to consider its subject not as an abstraction but as an active part of my personal experience in BRC.

I had lots of stuff to attend to this morning, but following this thread turned out to be more fun. Yes, deep in the suit, 'evil" is alleged on the part of the bad guys and, even worse, I suppose, "despicable conduct", and, yes, mention is made of "treble damages". That's what caught me, I suppose, ...

Post-survival-guide tip
You've read your survival guide and your vehicle is almost stacked to the gills. Right up there where those gills are is where to stash your firewood. Your heart and body and soul will certainly be welcomed to BRC but a truly fine way to introduce yourself to BRC is to offer firewood to the pyre of ...

In the fifth century BC, Euripedes expressed some opinions on this subject, in "The Bachae". That's a play I'd like to see presented to BRC newcomers, just to set a context for the conversations ahead for them.

Artful nudity
Ann Hollander, in "Sex and Suits", gives a good overview of the challenge. Now and then, nudity can be fashionable dress, but when nudity is presented as a stance in permanent opposition to fashionable dress, it becomes a quick-passing fad. The male suit is now the global standard for sober male dre...

Pantzooka gift
No matter the humor involved, Pantzooka is confronting an aesthetic challenge by running away from it and encouraging others to do the same. Instead, give a try at showing there can be original style shown in a minimal upper body costume.

Where's your art?
A primary guiding principle of BRC has been just what you suggested; that any description of skill at making art that excludes the majority of the population, is bunk. You don't need a license to make art in BRC. Training may help you sing better, but there is no person incapable of singing a song, ...

Blue people
A contingent of performers from Blue Man has camped on the playa for a good number of years. In BRC, they do not do Blue. Wearing, as they do, approximately silly costumes 50 weeks of the year, this crew has perhaps the best excuse of any group on the playa for not wearing costumes in BRC.

I do not think you want to convince yourself that you cannot kill people with such a device. At the least, you would not want to subject people to the field you would generate without offering them fair warning.

First, you make contributions to both BORGs. This is to buy access to private offices for "discussions". States of Nevada
I have noted in other posts that it might be useful for interested people to consider BRC as being located in what is a de facto two-state region; the state of Nevada and the state of Las Vegas (Clark County). Vegas voted for Kerry; Nevada voted overwhelmiingly for Bush. These are the voters whose (...

Walk around naked all day and your shoulders, back, and chest are a lot more likely to burn than the rest of you. That's where most of your body surface is, on top. Probably, you're carrying a pack that's going to chafe a bare back. At the same time, if you've spent a couple days (or months or years...

Bring firewood. Do you have some empty nooks and crannies in your travel suite? Fill 'em up with firewood. Somewhere on the playa, you'll find a place to use it. Look at the people you're bringing with you and ask yourself if they're going to be more fun than (your) burning 150 pounds of firewood. W...
