Also take into account that only small areas of your face WON'T be flexing and moving, in addition to sweating....It helps to do what I call "gurn testing"- Make faces in a mirror, and see if your glitter sheds. you are the only other person i've ever met who uses the word "gurn"!!!! are you a thea...

Spirit gum was the first thing that popped into my mind too. I used to use it to stick gold star confetti to my face, and most of it stayed on, but some fell off. I wonder whether I had inferior quality spirit gum, whether I applied it badly, or whether that means it's a risk for accidental MOOP if...

samdu: Those are great stakes. I had a welder friend take a few pieces of rebar and weld rings to them. This first gen set looks a little weak with only one weld point attaching the ring to rebar. I've made some design changes and will be taking notes of other playa worthy stakes (like yours) in hop...

spirit gum. theatrical adhesive, will stick just about anything to your skin, provided the item is not too heavy. for instance, you wouldn't want to try to stick a pair of real bighorn sheep horns to your face with it, but buttons, jewels, etc will stay on just fine. you should be able to find it at...

tips may not be commerce. Espeically since this seems to have arisen naturally in the course of a conversation.... we had all the sides (long sides and the end pieces) up and down last year at different times, and this year at dark skies. buy some extra ball bungies, roll the sides up, and bungie them to the top horizontal support. you can let them down when you wish, just make sure to secure them when they're d...

yup!

this is exactly what we got, ours came from sam's club. we used it in '04, and it was so nice we went and bought a 2nd one for this year. it's strong enough that, even with the winds last year and the winds at dark skies this year, it came through just fine. DO use every single ball bungie that come...

these are large (bigger than a quarter) irregular shaped red welts, almost like hives. i always use a very high SPF sunscreen because i'm very pasty (scottish heritage- green eyes, red hair, no pigment in the skin to speak of). years ago i got tired of burning every time i tried to "tan" (HA!!! as w...

Since you agree with "other comments" suggesting trade, I'd like to repeat that I for one do not like the idea of requiring a gift to give one. I find that it diminishes the idea of giving gifts, recuding them to barterning. and you're right, that's exactly what it does. the plan is not to do "give...

When does a gift become an obligation?

Last year was my 1st year on the playa, and it was amazing. I made a lot of new friends, saw some amazing new sights, and thought about amazing new things. Since I'm not an artist, and don't paint, draw, sculpt, etc, i didn't really have a tangible "gift" to give to people. But i love to cook, so i ...
