Dork, I was trying to avoid the roof rack route, since we are driving over 2000 miles. It is possible we may be able to use an SUV for the trip, but I was hoping to keep everything inside. I'm sure that 7-8 ft poles on top of the vehicle will take away from the gas efficiency too. (I was really hopi...

Dan, Yikes-I meant it needs to be at least 7 -8 ft high to accomodate a tent that is 6 ft tall, if what I read about airflow between the tent and shade is right. Or am I doing all my math wrong? I don't have a vehicle that can carry that length of pipe. I think the shade structure that you reference...

Shade Pole Question
Hi all. I am trying to design a shade structure for over our tents, and also a sitting/eating/hang out space. Total area 20x20 or so. All the monkey huts, costcoports and such use lengths of pvc or conduit at least 8 feet long. I don't think we will be able to bring poles that are longer than 5 or 6...

Thanks OZ and Dadara for a voice from the UN! This will be my first BM and I look forward to seeing your work Dadara, the others are astounding! Where would we be without the rest of the world? Everyone who comes here brings a little bit of their former life. Weaving a little bit more into the Ameri...

These show how much Americans fail at helping each other live the American Dream. They are all old movies cause the new ones are cartoonish in comparision (think Borak or The Terminal) -A Raisin in the Sun -Grapes of Wrath -A Tree grows in Brooklyn -To Kill a Mockingbird -Johnny Got His Gun -Alice's...

Thanks guys! Excellent ideas, strike one item off my list. (Note to self - bring lots of ice dollars) Tool, I like the idea of recycling the suitcases for other water uses. I guess if you kept the factory going, it would be ice, cold water for drinking/tea making/cooking, left over clean water to ke...

Diane- Thanks for sharing, sorry about the diptwits. I am torn between driving and flying in. Driving will take 2 1/2 days each way, wasting valuable vaca time, vs. the logistics of camping gear, foodstuffs, bikes and water. I envy Donna and others who are within a day's drive. But there's still ple...
I have a question WHO. Why can't your son camp with you. Why can't he camp where he wants? And since he is 19 isn't he all grown up in your eyes? Or is he still a child to you? 19 is old enough to die in war time. It seems kind of controlling to bring a "Wild Buck" to a rodeo and ...
Hi and welcome, WHO.... Hedonism is an odd word to use..... But maybe not, depending on any expectation you might have........ I recommend people try not to bring those with them for their first trip out there......
Well, I really don't EXPECT anything except good...

Hello all. My first burn will be 2008 and I am really looking forward to it. I feel like I should have been here since the beginning, but somehow missed it for 21yrs. I really want to experience the community, dust and H.R. Puff-n-stuff of it all! I also am bringing my 19yr old son, because I want h...
