Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

Just in case anyone's in the same position I am, here is BMORG's official response: You should submit a name change request for the DDTs that you have so they can go to your camp members. If this happens before they're mailed out, they can be mailed to the new owners directly. Alternativly, you coul...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

The defensive bit wasn't directed toward you, Savannah, apologies if it came off that way. It stemmed from this: Also I was under the impression that you couldn’t get a STEP ticket if you got one someplace else. There does seem to be a bit of double-dipping going on. Sad and disappointing. Congrats ...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

Thanks, Savannah! I haven't already ordered my STEP tickets. I emailed them and I'll stop by the office before the end of the day today if I don't hear anything—they can't ignore you when you show up at their doorstep (gotta love being a local). And I really don't think what I'm doing is "gaming the...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

So I got a STEP ticket, but I have a question. I already had purchased a camp-allocated ticket with one of the codes given to my camp. My camp has a waiting list of people without tickets, so I'd like to take the STEP ticket and give my camp ticket back to the camp. Is Burning Man going to kick my S...

Re: Dear BMORG: Please publish who is getting the 10,000 tic

I'd just like to say that I think most people don't realize quite how many camps are getting tickets. At the meeting where they announced this, someone asked if 500 was a decent guess, and they (Harley Dubois) said it was. That's roughly half of the registered theme camps out there. Want to know who...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread

I didn't get a ticket. But that's not why I'm angry. I'm angry for a number of reasons, but not that. I'm angry because the Burner community came up with dozens of perfectly workable solutions to the problem of distributing tickets (Glastonbury-style is my favorite), and BMORG studiously ignored eve...

Re: Burning Man 2012 Tickets FAQ

As a result, there are a lot more tickets being requested than there are tickets available -- an inordinately large number, in fact, and far more than we projected even after last year's sold-out event. I'm sorry, but any 13 year old who's ever tried to get tickets to see Radiohead could have told ...

Re: Art Car DWI in Duluth, MN

If this guy's not a burner, he probably should be. Not every drunk driver should be a burner! Besides, we have enough drunks as it is. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating driving under the influence, especially at the burn. But you have to admit that the idea of driving your chair from ba...

I have an 18' Playa Dome from them, and have no complaints (other than the fact that, if I got off my ass and fabricated one myself, it'd cost half as much).

From the burning blog:

"One of the greeters had plugged in a vacuum and reversed the flow, and he was dousing all the arriving cars and trucks and buses and RVs with an early taste of the playa."

Looks like it was an actual greeter after all.

One of my friends is sitting in front of our camp with a megaphone heckling passers-by when a car drives by. "SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!" he yells. The car obediently slows down. Just stop by -- 3 and F. Look for the big saddle-shaped sound tent and the several-story scaffolding tower. The baby grand is just sitting there unplayed as often as not, so setting a performance time is pretty unnecessary.

I had an 18' last year, and it worked quite well. I suggest a shadecloth, which they included with mine, but with that, it wasn't outrageously hot except in the middle of the day (but what isn't?). It keeps dust out well, at least with a tarp and carpet floor, but by the end of the week, the inside ...
