Hey thanks gyer! I'll check into the blocker thing. Jackass, The cost, all told arriving from India was $1300. Definetely worth the effort, although wife and I spent a lot of time speaking in our best Indian accents damming the tent maker in the beginning. You can can see more photos and read the ca...

Sorry about the photos not posting.

Spent 1/2 an hour trying to figure it out. Just cut and past the url if you want to check out the photos.

Meanwhile anyone want to give me a heads up on how to post photos here.

Thanks

Indian Desert Tents

To the post from Gyre, We have the tent that is shown in the last photo of your first post. we ordered it from the company who makes them in India. This year will be it's third trip to playa. We made many modifications to it and for the most part it is about as dust free of an environment as you can...

Rebar! er something like it!

Hammers and rebar are a must on playa. You might want to figure a way to organize these essentials where ever you fly into. Tents and such have been known to fly, literally, hundreds of fee into the air. I seen it with be own two eyes. Good luck!

They are great

I have used the same easy up shade structures for years. You just have to sturdy up the frame structure a little. Here is how I do it. -Pound 8" gutter spikes into the holes at the bottom of the legs to attache the legs to the playa. - Install 1/2 inch by 18inch rebar, bent over like a candy-cane, "...

Hey Bob, If you check out the url from the tent maker you will see that the tent is round. Since they didn't supply us with long enough rope to anchor the thing down, my solution is to bring the stake closer to the tent. But to do this and maintain the shape of the outer fly I had to tie the rope of...

Post hole Auger

I have a bit of a unique sitch, I think. I ordered a canvas tent from India (http://indiantents.com/general-service-tents.html - second down on the page). Suffice it to say, the engineering was a little screwed up and the ropes for anchoring the tent ended up being way short. My solution at this poi...

Thank you, Bob. The idea here is to see if my wife and I might be able to put into the fire and then get back from the fire in a different form. I think that if one can change the form and transform maybe some of the meaning behind certain objects, these objects could then take on deeper, di...

Keepem coming

Good idea on the bonfire, I've got a lot of spring cleaning to do. I've also seen what you are talking about in putting dried leaves in with a ceramic firing and the effect that you get with it in the form of a crackling iridescent effect. And thanks for the insite phil. My first idea was to take a ...

What materials can survive the Temple Burn?

Hi all, I am thinking about doing a little art project this year involving the temple burn. I'd like to put something into the temple that during the burn will either melt or fuse or morph into a different material or form. This will be in conjunction with the burning of a box with mementos of the p...
