Re: Live stream in demo mode
It lets me practice having "no expectations." I think of the live stream as a gift, not a given. Then don't advertise it! Don't put it in the JRS, don't talk it anywhere in the Burning Man documentation and don't put it on the home page, ever. You can not promise something and whip out the excuse, ...

Re: Waze Group for Burning Man 2013
I and others have been unable to find this group. You may have to be closer to BRC to find it, who knows. So maybe search for groups when you get closer, if you don't see one where you are now. There is a big one I see in SF called "SF to Burning Man" and comes up when you search for the word "Burn...

Re: About Waze
Is there even enough -- or any -- cell reception that far out there to make that app even useful? Waze is reporting the traffic status for Nixon, Empire and Gerlach, so yes, that means there is data coverage out there that cell phones can send road and traffic status back to the Waze servers. Join ...

Re: Canned Food
This has to be a joke!? First off, I don't think you can take canned goods on a airplane, period. They might exploded! Contrary to what people have told you, Reno is a modern city that got canned goods a few years ago. There will be plenty of places to get canned goods! Make sure to get a can opener...

Re: sights on route 395 las vegas - death valley - bishop -
Which way do you want to go? There is LV -> 160 -> 372 -> 127 -> 190 -> 395 or LV -> I-15 (South) -> 58 -> 395. Honestly, I don't know which one would be quicker since the I-15S is a fairly fast highway, when it is not Sunday Afternoon/Night. My advice would be to take the I-15 (South) to the 58 the...

Re: Driving an RV from LA to BRC - Routes and Grades
I don't see any advantage on taking the 395 all the way unless you need to pass through Reno, specially if you'll be driving at night... The 395 at the Sierra is prone to have animals crossing the road fairly often, and I've also encountered rocks on the lanes on that region from Bridgeport to Cars...

Thank You!
Make sure your passengers are the one reporting Cops and Speed Traps on the drive. The last thing we need are accidents on the 447 because someone was using their cell phone.

Waze Group for Burning Man 2013
For those of you that use Waze, I have formed a "Burning Man 2013" group for all persons traveling to Burning Man. Join up and get reports and notices on what is on the way to Burning Man.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Good all around system, but my only complaints are: 1) Registration window seemed a bit small. 4 days is not long enough, but I don't think it will impact most people. 2) Can BMORG scrap together an IT team that can create servers to sell tickets? 3) I think the OMG ticket sells should be larger tha...

Best: Not packing for Burning Man because I was not going. Watching uStream of Burning a bunch of times this week. Realizing that no matter what happens, I am going to Burning Man next year. Worst: Not going to Burning Man! Realizing the idiots that run the Burning Man uStream feed have MAJOR cases ...

I hope they threw the little shit out of Burning Man if she did not come up with a really good excuse. Shutting down outbound traffic so you can run off and get laid and drink is pretty lame. God forbid if you were with this girl and did not know she was 15, because nothing a guy likes to find out t...

I'll bet a lot of last-minute birgins are logging in right now, for panicky advice. Then they should be prepared to have an ePlaya account earlier. In fact, the Virgin Introduction Newsletter (VIN) should clearly state that Virgins should get an ePlaya account and start reading. The Saturday before...

Burning Man 2012 Waze Group!
I saw a couple of years ago that someone at BMORG created a Burning Man Waze group. I looked this year and could not find it, so I created a new one. Come join the "Burning Man 2012" group in Waze! Also, create your own local Waze group for your local community and join this new one I created. Here ...

Re: Alternative Route
Well, I have never driven on the 445, always the 447. I really don't see the advantage of taking it since the 447 is a known and fairly modern road. As Burners', we know where all the speed traps are and we know what actually to expect when driving the 447. While the 445 is not a dirt road, it is no...

That's the saddest thing I think I've ever read in here --- seriously. I find I'm having almost as much fun helping other first-timers get ready to do it right as I had getting ready my own self. There's a whole lotta good in making sure that this burn is the best ever for whoever DOES get to go ra...

NOT. AT. ALL! The ticket fiasco completely ruined it for us. I don't have any desire to build or organize any projects or camps without knowing that all the people who want to go with us can't get tickets. In our 7 person group, NO ONE GOT TICKETS and it just sucked the wind out of it. We were thin...

Re: Buying Tickets on StubHub
If you are buying tickets on StubHub now, you are just being stupid. Once the flood of tickets go out in June, the prices will come down and will probably be a little over the max ticket price. Last year, there were plenty of tickets a couple of week before the Burn and they were not far off from fa...

Not to add to the choir of doom and gloom, but I am on a couple of Camp mailing lists and I am seeing the same effect on the camps too. Huge portions of the camps, including people heading and funding camps, did not get tickets. I think this year's lottery is going to have a devastating impact on ca...

Yeah, it seems like this has the potential to kill the scalping. I imagine that instead of scalpers choosing to tie up thousands of dollars and waiting six months, they'll just go buy a bunch of Justin Bieber tickets and try to make money off of their money for six months. I would agree with this. ...

If you've got technical advice or suggestions for InTicketing (assuming that's who will handle ticketing this year), you may want to reach out to them via their site. The only advice I have for anybody about InTicketing is that BMORG should have dumped them two years ago. Wrong, they should have du...

The roads are already strained. A larger population would make it worse. That's the bottle neck, not the size of the desert. Agreed. It's not the size of the desert that is the issue, it's getting out of it that is the issue. If Burning Man had a 100K people at it, you would need to hold a lottery ...
