Jkisha, can you post a link to the stakes you use? I wouldn't mind using something other than rebar to tie my yurt down with. I have used these crazy big 16" safety orange stakes and they have worked well. http://tinyurl.com/34ghcuo Link is to Homedepot I like using them because of the flourescent ...

One more question, in order to anchor the yurt, as I recall you run tape clear across each of the roof axis, draw it out and wrap it around a tube (pvc), then loop rope through the tube and down to your stakes (rebar). Are there any new/better ways to anchor a yurt, or is this still the preferred m...

Tuff R hexaurts and ligthning
I know it has been a number of years since there has been major rain or lightning durning Burning man but it is certainly a possibility. I wonder if all those aluminum covered hexayurts will attract lightning durning a storm? Should we be installing lightning rods? I really don't want to be fried in...

Just tell everyone you are going on a spiritual retreat in the dessert. I have never worried about what people think about my choice to go to burningman. I do know someone who's boss would be less than happy granting time off to go to burningman and she does tell work that she is going on a religiou...

I like Tasty Bites Thai and Indian food in a pouch. (Yes they really are tasty) We often times eat it without heating it up with some pita. So you can take it with you and add a piece of pita for a meal on the go. But also good heated and over rice. www.tastybite.com You can go to their website and ...

If you camp at the springs watch out for the wild ass who likes to bray next to your tent in the middle of the night, and you thought that only happened at the burn. Oh yes. I forgot about the wild ass. I received a heads up before camping there but nothing can prepare you (even Burning man) for th...

I suggest looking at the tag that has the Recommended Laundering Instructions. Just my 2 cents...... That's a good idea, except the problem is more with the electronics than the fabric. 80 is the quickest but 50-70 is more scenic. Never tried Jungo Rd. We always take 80 to Burning man and 50-70 home. There are some nice hot springs to stop at near Austin, NV (search web for info). Don't assume you can ask the locals for help. One year I was fairly certain how to get there but stopp...

Re: cheap bi directional filament tape
just found this site for the tape http://www.goodbuyguys.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/742 at $25.99 per roll of 6" without having to order a case of it is even cheaper than the findtape website case price. Costco type Carport roof vents
I am bringing a Carport with the roof vents on top, out to the Playa this year and was wondering about how those roof vents will stand up to the high wind. Many new Burners seem to think a shower behind the water truck is some kind of initiation their first year. Luckily I am not much of a joiner.
