Re: Last minute shade structure on a budget?

here is the website for the Monkey Hut, http://www.chromatest.net/Lovemonkey/ it is actually VERY EASY! probably one of the easiest on the playa because there isn't much to it and it's very simple. Don't follow the instructions for the tape etc, simply use PVC glue to glue the center rib together. m...

Re: Last minute shade structure on a budget?

The wind is going to be VERY STRONG this year. Not the friendly happy playa of the last few years. You need to check the wind rating of these before you go out and buy them. for the 100 dollars you would spend, you can get a very strong Monkey Hut. We have built an open shade like this our first yea...

Re: Last minute shade structure on a budget?

Monkey Huts are the answer. Use a full black out tarp. The HEAVY silver and Brown ones are perfect. You should not be able to see light thru it. The best way to secure a Monkey Hut is to use a 2x4 and rebar. This is true for pretty much any structure, even a car port, which has a tarp to the ground....

Stapled Tickets.....?... REALLY ?

Perhaps I am being a bit frustrated from the general disaster that the ticket buying, and particularly, shipping experience has been. OK, I know we bought the tickets at the most expensive level, $420.00. AND BMORG has had the 1.68 MILLION dollars since November from the first round of ticket buying...

Parachute for Shade... how effective?

I've seen parachutes used as shade structures for years on the playa. they seem plentiful. However, in working to set up our own "dome". We are wondering.. " how effective are parachutes at shading?" We have sourced some white and red parachutes. It would seem the white chutes would not absorb as mu...
