Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man
Thanks for all the good advice, e-playans. I will follow it! Look for me with the "I'm a good listener" sign. See you at the eplaya party (which I've been telling myself I haven't posted enough to legitmately attend, but that's just another layer of insecurity). I'll bring a bottle of bubbly and a s...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man
I'm shy, introverted, with fluctuating low self-esteem. I worry that being a middle-aged woman, I will be seen as not "interesting" due to my age. It's a thought that's really hard to get out of my head and it stops me from having fun interactions with folks. Volunteering with greeters has helped a ...

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I am now packed and ready except for last-minute food and alcohol items (drank some of my packed wine last night with friends). Now what to do until I leave for BRC early on Saturday morning? This might almost be worse than my usual scrambling around at the last minute. I guess I'll just sit around ...

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Today was go to Costco and buy giant-sized items day. Pre-made margaritas, fiber bars, and dried fruit. And many bottles of wine. I think I could survive just on that. I did get some looks at checkout regarding the amount of booze in my cart. I told the cashier I was going on a health kick. My close...

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Wonderful! Can't wait to see you and all the others! I am trying to wrap my mind how Greeters is going to de-virginize all those newcomers. Maybe just bless them with a little playa dust on the forehead? Ideas?

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hello All-- Reading the eplaya threads because I'm realizing it's only about 100 days to the playa. This will be my 8th burn, and each one is better than the last. Really. I am so excited about all the newbies coming out this year! My first burn was ultra amazing and I know I will see that look of a...

Re: sic pup
The Gleek vid--and I've never even seen the TV show--made me so happy! Thank you so so much for posting. I'm going home to BRC tomorrow morning (yes, counting the hours, minutes), and can 't wait to join the dance.

The topic of burning out on Burning Man inspires me. I am going to do something that scares me a little, pushes my boundaries. I bring my sister and we are like we were when we were kids (only more drinking.) The more I interact with other people and the desert itself, the more immersed in BRC and t...

I'm taking an RV too. There's grey water dump service and potable water service on the playa. Big trucks come around to service RVs daily. Don't bring too much food. Have an extra ignition key. Bring a British flag and put up in window if you want to meet fellow Brits or people who like Brits :) I a...

I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding adoptive camps, but if you don't, or you want to change camps, we are a small, camp (eight of us) one rv, one renovated bus, assorted tents, with two gay men, one undeclared man, and the rest fun women. We will be camping near E and 730--arriving Monday mornin...

barter at theme camps
Heya, I noticed while reading the theme camps listings that a few mentioned "bartering." Isn't that a big ol' no-no? I've always gifted and been gifted and for me this is integral to B Man's community.
Any one else notice this? Does it bug you?
Love to ya all.

Comfort and Joy Camp
meow, Kitten,
Your photos have re-inspired my dedication to the B Man ideals. I have never visited your camp, but hope to this year. I would love to be involved in some way too.
I'll check the website.
gotta go fluff out my tutu.

First timers from Minnesota
Hey Tiny and StewartS et al, Thanks for the posts. I've invited a friend from North Branch, MN for her first burn, and she will love to knowing other Minn newbies are out there on the playa. So, where does the Minn camp usually live? Is it a registered camp? I'd like to connect my friend with other ...
