Re: Five reasons to love ravers on the playa
I for one find "ravers" refreshing. I am one. I don't mind the culture at all. What does bother me at burning man is the huge amount of older men who build art cars with only 2 seats explicitly with the intention of waiting outside of a "rave" for a young girl who may or may not be under the influen...

Hey Basshenge...
I sincerely hope you reconsider playing any dubstep on a 100kw system.
I could make a snarky comment about the sound system in your picture, but I won't. I already know what it sounds like

I empathize with sound guys who set up multi-million dollar sound systems and bring them to the desert so that thousands of people can be entertained by artists they WANTED to see and PAY for, only to have one random guy screw up the entire thing because he doesn't like the type of music being play...

Yeah... This thread makes me laugh. The way that the sound "rangers" work is as follows: If you are friends with a ranger, you get to cry to him whenever someone with a better sound system wants to listen to it, regardless of what "level" it is at. It could be almost off, but if you like electronic ...

anything less than a 40watt full color laser is not that interesting. I rent 10W full color lasers ALL THE TIME for about $600 a night. Lasers aren't very expensive or awesome anymore. But I suppose that ripping people off who don't know better is a normal business practice in some areas of the coun...

I suppose that there will always be negative connotations applied to people who do things at night when other people want to sleep. But remember, if there were no music/ parties at burningman, there would be NOTHING to do at night. In fact, everything that has ever occurred at night time that is FUN...

Hmm, It is an interesting concept. But, why would anyone want to listen to the same music everywhere they went? Also- In case nobody noticed, most of the music at burningman is already synchronized-- about 90% of the "dj's" are all playing the same top 100 beatport tracks that they just downloaded 2...

maybe you could invent a system to assess and compute to send out cancelling waveforms that would be cool...think i can get a BM grant to develop it? Its pretty easy to make a system that sends out inverse LF waves to cancel LF noise. There are several in place at airports around the U.S. I find it...

pics of our artcar! Who's got em?
We built the Icthys pisces bus (big white fish with massive sound system that glowed in the dark) And we don't have any high quality pictures/video of it. Which I think is unfortunate because everywhere we went there were flashes going off and people taking pics. If anyone has any video or pictures ...

Re: Who wants to hear Rush 2112 @ 80,000 watts?
Thats right all 21 minutes of one of the most amazing songs ever [email protected] concert level sound quality! starts at 1:30AM friday morn after the hour of Tool. How do you deal with the approx 6000 lbs of diesel generator it would take to generate 80,000 W (well, diesel or natural gas, but I'm going to as...

As for threats of violence against photographers, you can posture all you want. I'm not sure why you would think someone with a camera would not be able to defend themselves against such threats. Many professional photographers...(me included) would laugh in the face of someone who said that they w...

One thing you will notice is that many of the DJ's on the playa absolutely suck. They are horrible and would have no chance ever playing at any club or party in the real world, so they bring a system out to the desert and "play" with the hope that within the sheer number of people present, they will...

There is a really easy answer to this question. Buy an Olympus SLR camera. They are dust proof, water proof and they have the only self cleaning sensor system that actually works. It would depend on the intensity and wavelength of the pulse, wouldn't it? While mu metal is a decent shield, I'm not too impressed with most electronics. The device I designed produces a short, but very intense burst. It sounds like you made an HERF weapon and not an EMP weapon. Still, the average...
