Hmm .. it must have been after (south) Eugene and into northern Cali it was really mountainy. The Westy was overheating alot on I-5 from south of Eugene, OR to Redding, CA. I just noticed that Google Maps has Bike route, which according to them plots flattest routes. And it is very close looking to ...

Flattest route to Gerlach/BRC from Seattle?
Which is the flattest, least Mountainous route to Gerlach/BRC, from Seattle? I ask because the route we took 2 years ago was harsh on the old, overpacked & underpowered VW Westfalia. I know it's not #1 .. 2 years ago I ride shared with a friends and kind of took that route .. but to Reno. This year ...

We're gonna run with the 7 gallon aquatainers this year, http://www.relianceproducts.com/images/resize/640x640/Aqua-Tainer-with-BPA.jpg In price shopping them, we found that the evil empire of Wal Mart is selling them in the $8 range vs $16 to $20 everywhere else for them. I built out the bed deck ...

Eh, just for for a monkeyhut. Its playa tested and approved. I've used mine for three years straight and had NO issues with it. You almost have the same design anyways. My MH has a floor plan of 12x10 with the ten foot section being the length and twelve being the width. I can stand up in it and I ...

Would cutting U's into the fabric help with the structure staying down in a windstorm since the wind would be able to travel through it? Just curious. It would, but would also make lil sun patches in the shade. edit: yeah the ripping, I think Ima gona go for a 20'x10' HD tarp, seems fairly cheep & ...

I would suggest checking out the Monkey Hut for a playa tested version of what it looks like you're trying to achieve. Always remember- the winds can hit 70mph+ and your shade structure needs to survive that. Yes that is waht I am wanting to make! They used 5ft sections for the arch/top, so there w...

I am thinking of maybe on the 'legs' that sit on the Playa, drilling out some holes to hammer the rebar in at a slight angle to help secure it down. Or some how bending the rebar to a 7 like shape and poking the rebar thru a hole on the PVC. I would like to use Shade Cloth, but I think it would get ...

How does this look for a Shade Structure?

10ft by 10ft square
3/4" PVC pipe, or 1"
Tees at intersections, not glued, maybe some light glue
2ft rebar, 1/2 pounded in Playa or 3ft rebar for the 1.5ft riser version
bed sheets with zip ties holding them on

I planned on getting 100 of em made, and if I can afford it 100 more (but next price break is at 500..that's abit too much for me ATM). Last year I was at 4:15 & A, I stayed with friends at Camp Shift, bac...
