Thanks for the lineup.

Bill Patrick and Bianca Dino rocked it for me - contributing to a very memorable night. Some sets from that evening would be awesome.
the challenge with the electric scooters is they will last about an hour on a charge or 12-15 miles and that is at an average of 160 lbs. Adding weight will decrease the range. I've been looking at modifying one with solar but after researching it the range isn't there.
...

Thanks KMan for the details. I've returned my Coolmasters and ordered the Scythes. I'm also excited to hear what you learn about the power control. I too don't know if all speed controls can actually save power or if they just burn the amps that aren't sent to the device. Fig, cool evolution of the ...

framing material

OK, So the obvious framing material is pvc pipe. But pvc pipe almost always lets me down on the playa. In fact, unless it's actually moving water around, its pretty useless. I suppose if it was used in some sort of tension frame, tied (I hate to drill it as that seems to cause a weak point) at cross...

Mutant scooter project needs some help

Hey all, after 7 years I hope to bring my own mutant vehicle - I was given a HTC Pacelite 707 electric scooter that just needs a new battery. Mine has no seat (good thing given the DMV regs) and no rack. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Qo8ONjBvRno/TE0p5xkkrVI/AAAAAAAAHM4/uix6SfqpDzc/s800/HCF%20707.jpg I want ...

water flow rate for bucket cooler

I got my bucket all full of holes, sanded and ready for some cooler pads. I haven't found any pad material here in Seattle (anyone found some around here?) so my plan is to pick some up on the way down - not the best as I'd prefer to have all the kinks worked out before leaving town. Still don't hav...

Re: How does this fan look?
I have been following your posts with great interest and have begun construction of the early version (bucket) cooler. Just ran across this fan at TigerDirect.com. What do you think? High CFM and a control knob. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details....

I'm glad you guys are a week or so ahead of me. My coolmaster fans should arrive on Monday and shoot, it sounds like I need to upgrade already, based on Kman's and ConnieH's findings. Keep your experience and data coming. It's really helpful. I'm determined to make a functioning system this year. I'...

wetted surface area to fan ratio

I'm loving all this discussion about homebrewing a swamp cooler. I've brought a couple failed attempts to the playa in the past, but this year my wife is going to be 5 months pregnant, so I'm starting early and will succeed. My question is about maximizing the cooling effectiveness per watt of fan p...
