What Cap’n said plus...

Fuck Volunteering!

It’s a sham way to pretend like you are contributing.

Unless you plan to culture jam the volunteers, then it’s OK.

The truth about the big BORG lie.

Re: A solution to suicides (at the man burns/ temple burns)

Now Federal and local authorities may ask for more staff, comms, surveillance and whatnot, but I doubt it will be physical barriers and the likes. Token I really hope you're right. I didn't care for that fence around the temple. Fingers crossed. The fence was a knee-jerk situational thing. Needed a...

Re: A solution to suicides (at the man burns/ temple burns)

I'll just point out that, while insurance companies and their prerogatives are important, they aren't the only sheriff in town (pun intended). I doubt the federal overlords care much that only one nut-case has been immolated so far... We don’t have to guess. Lots of folks have died on or around the...

Re: A solution to suicides (at the man burns/ temple burns)

Token, liability is an expensive toy to play with. Lets say an employee at your business gets in a physical altercation with anyone. (Fellow employee or patron.) Should you decide to keep him/her on the payroll, you better pray that they never do it again. The second incident is all your fault. Thi...

Re: A solution to suicides (at the man burns/ temple burns)

Let say I’m an insurance company insuring the BORG. Over the last 20 years somewhere ~ 900K people attended the burn (strictly from published numbers) Of the 900K viewings of the man burn, over a span of 20 years, one nut-case immolated. And even that incident will probably not result in a clam. Thi...

Too bad they didn’t sonic boom the place. If you have never been privy to crack-of-dawn sonic boom-boom, it is truly epic. No words can describe. I’ve been through several. Re: Elon Musk & the Mission to Mars

Yep, solar winds strip the Martian atmosphere. Btw, the Martian atmosphere would be considered a Medium Vacuum on the surface of Earth. A medium vacuum would be typical for charging an AC system, making CRTs and tubes etc. Maybe Musk can build a giant super-conducting ring between mars and the sun a...

Re: eBikes and Burners who Ride them

Ok, sealed Pb Acid, probably AGM.

AGM have a different charge curve than flooded lead acid like in a car.

Yeah, what folks said on voltage but if AGM, 11.6V is the magic number for discharge.

For charging, AGM takes a higher bulk 14.6-14.8V but the float is lower at 13.6V

Not entirely true. There are several treaties in place and the ISS Agreement that set precedent.

End of the day, maritime laws would be the final fallback even though they are not officially extended to celestial bodies.

Looks like you found out that busting your ass in an Esplanade theme camp of 250 people may not be your thing.

Theme camps on Esplanade is where the party at. You won’t find 42 there.

Maybe invest in building a network for 2018 and find a spot that might suit you better.

Re: Any Go/Weiqi players planning to attend 2018?

Get an old billboard vinyl, make the playing mat human size. People are the stones so bring some cool body paint to mark them. Integrate Jell-O shots and elements of strip-twister and make it messy. Have some cool tunes and a PA. Maybe a couple lifeguard chairs for the “players” to call the action. ...
