Re: Segways in Burning Man

How exactly are people on Segues interfering with your experience? You get run over? Your last paragraph pretty much sums up the real answer and should have been the third option in your survey: Egalitarian envy. In the grand scheme of things, the smelly loud stand-up gas scooters are way more annoy...

Re: KODIAK TENT in the WIND

Oh wow, Kodiak just went cheapo on everyone with the flex poles. Did you already take to the playa and it flexed too much or is this a pre-playa question? Kodiak and Springbar tents on playa have historically been the rigid frame cabin tents. Those are proven and reliable. If this “flex-bow” thing m...

A-fucking-men brother. What breeds you running on your ol hog farm there? Our last batch was red wattle x berkshire. You have boars and sows? Ever have weaners available? 100% Berkshire. Like mine slow grow on pasture and forage. I have 5 breeding sows and one boar. I also have one sow that refuses...

Re: How to make Bacon.

So few people realize how important that really is. And we come back full circle to bacon. Same holds true for heritage breed hogs. Flavor and quality. Each heritage breed has a unique flavor profile and fatty acid composition. Then you add structure, how well they marble or are they lard pigs etc....

Re: Old and Cynical

2008. I gave a giggsvillian a ride share. Those folks can be aholes. You say that like it is a bad thing. Yes they can be assbent, but that is part of the magic of the whole village. It has flavor, is definitely potentially fatal, and there is no monoculture. Bring a good medical kit, lots o...

There is a reason jaded old fuck veterans go out of their way to welcome virgins. Even if they aren’t the outgoing friendly hippie ilk. At some point in the journey, you will see that eyes wide open virgin look on someone and it will take you back to your first year, when BRC was the eighth wonder o...

Wouldn’t say hoarding or any large scale thing but I do collect heirlooms that preserve nutrition and flavor over yield.

If that mini-van is you main wheels in real life, where you drive friends and family, kids and colleagues around ... I’d nix the idea of sleeping in it. It will forever be full of Playa. Roll up the windows in Gerlach, unload it at the campsite, lock it for the duration. Do what the rest of the folk...

First, and foremost, Paragraphs, line breaks, and structure please. You wrote down some lovely thoughts and feelings that need to flow with purpose, not just thrown together as they arrived. Unless you are a disabled person in real life, with the state blue placard and full documentation, motorized vehicles are subject to full mutant vehicle DMV rules. Exceptions are the stand-only scooters and Segues, electric bicycles/trikes compliant with NDOT rules. Being tired and other lack of vig...

Even if the “hula skirt” gizmo is 100% moop free, tested and certified, the perception stigma is strong. Now thinking dust reduction is double thumbs up. Since speeds are too low for any real drafting and aerodynamic type stuff caused by the vehicle chassis, and your exhaust is already dealt with, i...

Re: How to make Bacon.

Pound for pound bugs are better for you and more likely to survive the ‘pocalypse. Traditional meat uses way too many resources. Heh, the killing is the easy part. That what the Ruger 10/22 was invented for. Gutting and cutting is what separates the men from the boys, and the craft of doing it right without tainting the meat is an art form. When the ‘pocalypse hits, get cozy with your local farmer and don’t say nothing ‘bout ...
