Q: How does one bathe without a shower and with limited water? A: This will honestly be my first burn in '05, but this is how they solve the exact same problem in rural Thailand: with a cup. Squat in whatever greywater pan/bucket/collection device you are using, within arm's reach of your main clean...

i actually prefer luna, which is an offshoot of cliff bars.

they're marketed at being just for women, but they're perfectly good for anyone.

any my absolute favorite luna flavor is "nutz over chocolate".

hanging things from one's belt is the most useful thing ever. i was one unit with my backpack since about sixth grade, until i joined cast at the bristol renn faire. the costume had no pockets - you hung purses and pouches from your belt. MOST USEFUL IDEA EVER. your mug/water supply, your hand fan, ...

For growing it... braids are also good for that. That's how women in the 1800s and before did it. Only wash it only once a week if you can, twice if you must - be very thorough and use and anti-dandruff shampoo, as dandruff will become an issue. Then condition the fuck out of it and very, very gentl...

Re: Whats all this about breathing masks?
My own experience is to keep 1 yard of unbleached muslin around my neck like a kerchief, or tied to my butt-pack AT ALL TIMES while out there. This way, if a dirt-storm does come, I just wrap it around my face and keep on going. Thousands of years of technology can't be too far ...

oh yes.... one more thought...... a friend of mine, 19, narrowly escaped becoming a father a few months ago. he said to me "i can't deal with this yet! i'm only 19! i'm too immature, i'm in no place to be reproducing!" to which i replied "that revalation might've mattered before you chose to have se...
some of us smile wryly when we see this coming from a 20 year old.
i don't pretend to be 40. but no one's watching me, and no one's going to....... i may not be any more mature than they are.... that's exactly my point. it's not going to get much better, maturity-wise, between 16 and ...

i really did use the search feature, i promise

but to the best of my ability, i cannot discern this without asking outright: are there any "nest" or "Church of All Worlds" theme camps a la Heinlien's "Stranger in a Strange Land"?

I take the side of treating them more or less as adults. I'm 20, personally, so I can remember being 18 pretty clearly. For one thing, 18 *is* an adult (as much as legal status can be said to matter) and 16 is close enough. At this point, it's too late to be paranoid and clamp down on them.... what ...

Here's my beauty-school qualified response, allthough this knowledge really comes from trial and error starting in the sixth grade. 1.) Take heart and keep trying. vegan ideas with little cooking

Now, I know that most of the things that spoil easily are animal product, so theretically, a vegan diet would be the easiest to bring along. Unfortunately, I have little experience with living out of a backpack since well before I went vegan. All I know how to cook that's vegan involves... well... c...
