Re: PSA: Take Care of Your Feet Now.

If I remember correctly, the issue is cracks in the heel (or other places) can hold onto dust. So sanding the cracks down helps avoid the problem. :) Covering the feet is obviously safest . . . but if you can't resist occasionally padding around in flip-flops or sandals for an hour or two like Token...

Re: Where to set up camp? Solo virgin Burner

Demetri, if you 10 x 10 shade structure is one of the EZ Up canopies, make sure that you stake it down really well. The EZ Up is famous for buckling, ripping away and flying and impaling cars and people. Recommended: get t-posts and pound them in to support the legs of the EZ Up. Tape legs to secur...

Re: Virgin burner from Holland

Welcome, Merel ! :D The photos I've seen on the Burner Express so far have suggested that people are mostly dressed just for travel, but may be wearing a festive hat or coat so they don't have to pack it. No doubt the Burner Express is air-conditioned; that's another good reason to have a layer to w...

Re: Securing my tent (sorry to beat a dead horse)

And for a small tent (yes, your Coleman is a small tent), all this nonsense with lag bolts and power tools is insane overkill. A 10 or 12 inch nail spike available in any big box hardware store and a 16 Oz claw hammer every human on this earth should own ... Cheaper, available, no batteries, impact...

Welcome, Brigolas ! :D Yes, might as well toss it into the dust! (Actually, a waterproof cover is nice). I have done the cheap thing and kept my phone in a sandwich bag at times, but one evening I hauled it out to take a photo while I was dancing, & everyone stared at me. 90% of them were nosily int...

Re: Medical air evacuations

Rampart (Station 6) is open through the duration of the regular event, as well as several days before and after, but I can understand your concern. I would recommend emailing ESD directly. https://esd.burningman.org/contact-us/ You're sharp to demand answers. I'm not sure I would feel comfortable wi...

Re: First Time Burner & Modest Dresser

If you genuinely want some flair, hit a thrift store or a ROSS or a TJ Maxx and get something sparkly that won't shed. Or sometimes a huge, wide scarf or useful shemagh can pull double-duty as a pretty accessory, so if you have a favorite color, get some practical stuff that's pretty. My first year ...

Welcome azebb & partner! You will be given a map and other things by Greeters (one step past gate) so that you'll know where open camping is. If you really want to be with a camp, you can reach out to a prospective camp with a cover letter-style email explaining why you like them and what you offer ...

Re: Boyfriend broke up with me for going to Burning Man

You get one life. Nobody else can live it for you, nobody else gets to tell you how to do it, and nobody else is going to be lying on your deathbed regretting the things you wanted but were to scared to go after. If you choose to find a life partner (or even a temporary lover), make sure it is one ...

with proper identification of course? Yes. Done it several times. Have a mutually agreed upon email address for the people picking up the ticket. When you drop them, I think Box Office asks for both. True! Did this last year. Remember to do it on your way IN, as getting back to the Box Office after...

There are quite a few more ... some positive, some negative ions ... need both ... Sodium (Na+) Chloride (Cl-) Potassium (K+) Magnesium (Mg++) Calcium (Ca++) Phosphate (HPO4–) Bicarbonate (HCO3-) Milk is a pretty good source of all of them. Yes! And Horizon Farms boxed milk is great for this . . . ...

I'm sorry to hear you won't make it this year, Yggy; I'd missed the original post. :(

But I understand needing to take a year off. This was almost my year to do so, and then I just sort of found myself preparing anyway.
