Nitevenus" Yeah, you're right, that's a good point. It is probably silly but I have silly ideas sometimes!

Token, what you're talking about is the line I'm thinking.

No up-the-butt infusions.

Okay, I guess cleanse is the wrong word... Detox is more accurate. I'm basically thinking a few weeks of "No bad stuff into the body." I don't think that's overthinking it. I got really sick at the very end my first year and did okay last year but was thinking it would be a good idea to be going int...

Pre-Burn cleanses?

I'm thinking it would be a good idea to go alcohol free and do some serious high hydration, low-crap type diet before the burn to get my body in better shape to handle the playa stress I put upon it. Anyone have a regimen they do that they'd like to recommend?

Experiences Renting Vehicles to take to the playa

My camp is realizing we do not have enough space to get all of us and our stuff out to the playa. I've checked the ride-share board a bunch but I think it's time we start exploring rentals. Does anyone have any GOOD experiences renting? My fear is that any SF area rental place will say : "No way in ...

We had the same design (just double long) my first and second year. I would recommend using a fabric that is air-permeable. Letting breeze go through is key. I recommend Garden Shade Cloth from Home Depot. It's not the cheapest but it's way cheaper than camo netting and works well. BUT I would say y...

Yeah our PVC was good for the last couple years but we're definitely looking to upgrade.

Love this idea Cricket. Camp mates and I have done a simple pvc arch design shade structure for the last couple years and are looking to upgrade to something that's bigger and might actually shade our tents and protect us in storms. If you know anyone that's done scaffolding incorporated structures,...

My first year, 2008, arrived really late Sunday night/ Monday morning. Got set up by probably 10am on Monday morning and then the dust storms rolled in. Tried to get some sleep before going out exploring but could barely get comfortable in our very open shade structure. My tent, which was new but ki...

A little vinegar treatment and lotion on the down time was fine for me.

(and WORD on the bacon)

I would love that but since we have a bunch of veggies and vegans in the camp and I'm an ex-vegan, I think I'll have to pass on that beautiful idea.

Fire at Camp

We're planning on having a fire pit/barrel at our camp this year. As far as I can tell from the BM site, there isn't any kind of permit or anything required for this- just common sense and ensuring you keep the burning up and off the playa and out of the reach of flamables. That's all I need to know...

Alternatives to camo netting?

We're doing a simple pvc arch shade structure that will be 36X20. All the camo netting I'm finding is pretty expensive. Are there other materials you have used with decent shade/air-flow properties?
