Re: Vet burner having trouble getting into the spirit
Maybe take a year off? I've done it twice when I was feeling burned out and my enthusiasm was reborn when I returned the following year.

Re: Bartenders...Best Cocktails for Playa?
There's nothing better than a Moscow Mule on the Playa. In the past we used to bring fresh limes which were a hassle to juice. We also had to buy sugar syrup. Last time we brought Roses sweetened lime juice which covered us for the fresh squeezed limes and the sugar syrup. It saved us a huge amount ...

Re: Snark, is that really something burners take pride in?
More often than not people who snark online will be nice as pie when you meet them on the Playa. In a post burn wrap up a few years back I posted that I thought while the Temple was beautiful, I felt having the staircase in the centre detracted a little from the stillness (can't remember which year ...

Re: Food/Drink: What worked - what didnt
What never worked for us was anything that required actual cooking - rice, vegetables, pasta dishes, stir fries etc. Basically anything which required us to do any prep work or turn on the stove or oven. In the early years, we'd bring all kinds of ingredients to cook big meals and they would go unus...

Comic-Con has it down
Just went thru the ticket process with Comic-Con and think BM could learn a lot from them. Here's a quick summary. 1. You register a member profile prior to sale day and are emailed a URL and code the day before sale. It can only be used in one browser window. 2. You enter the waiting room during a ...

I'd like to say thanks to BM for making the directed group sale possible. It's relieved a huge amount of stress for our camp.

Re: Directed group sale tix
Does anyone have any idea how many people are eligible for the directed ticket sales? I understand there are 15,000 tickets available. If 7500 people are eligible and each purchase 2 tickets, it should be no problem. But if there are significantly more people than tickets available, then some people...

Newbies
Thinking back to the ticket drama, there were concerns the larger than usual newbie population would result in more spectators, less participation this year. I recall BMO encouraging newcomers to participate more. Wondering what everyones thoughts are now the event has passed?

When Palm Springs tried the same trick with Golden Voice this year, organizer Paul Tollet said he was canceling / moving the event. Man you guys are judgmental :( Sorry to disappoint those of you calling me agist, but it had nothing to do with the peoples ages. Not necessarily related but the asthma talk got me thinking, if you suffer from sinus problems, these really help. I use mine every year and it's unbelievable how much crap comes out of my nose. There is tons of black dust stuck up in your sinuses which can really aggravate you, causing headaches, b...

Re: Reno Day-trippers - wtf
I saw a couple of tour buses pull up on to the edge of the Playa just near center camp last year full of middle aged people. They put out lawn chairs and watched everyone. It reminded me of people watching animals at the zoo. I didn't like it. I was actually kind of upset about it, like they brought...

Re: Fuel Storage Question. I'm confused!!
Some tips for people bringing extra fuel for their RVs and generators: You should to take into account increased entry and exodus times, in addition to the gas you will use for your generator. We fill four 5 gallon fuel containers. We also fill up our RV tank prior to leaving the highway - do NOT co...

Re: Keen Newport Open Shoes okay for Playa?!?
I'd agree on covering up your feet. I wouldn't wear sandals, they'll get filled with dust. Don't buy expensive new shoes because they will get trashed. I wear an old pair of sneakers around camp, and boots outside camp. The boots are kick ass but my feet sweat like a hooker in church when it gets su...

Music and art are an equal part of my experience at BM. I've had many wonderful experiences dancing in desert and I appreciate the music the camps and art cars provide. There are camps like Opulent Temple who raise funding at events throughout the year and who are a respected and long term part of t...

Re: Seeking tips for taming long hair on the playa
I have thick wavy hair thats sits just above my shoulders. I blow dry it and flat iron it before I get to the Playa and it usually looks okay throughout the week. Humidity is terrible for my hair, but the dry conditions of the Playa seem to help keep it straight.

Re: Camel bak, good or bad?
Single most important thing I have, other than goggles and dust mask. You don't need it crazy big. I think I got the Mule or the Luxe - it was perfect. They have good prices on ebags.com and you can usually find a coupon at retailmenot.com or some other coupon website to further reduce the price.

I like the look of this $22 one on Amazon, gets great reviews too. Larger size means you can mix up a cocktail and take it out with you. Insulated and has a clip on.

Our camp had a record number of bike thefts last year. I also recall reading there was a record number of bikes left behind last year. Always lock it up and always use a combination lock.

I wonder if people will take this warning seriously? I say that because I've heard the same warning in previous years, and also heard the rule is not actually enforced. People may think it's the same this year. It's a good idea to post warning signs along the highway and entrance announcing this is ...
