There are only a few outside vendors who haul. https://burningman.org/event/camps/deli ... providers/. I think one of the RV/trailer suppliers made small shipping containers into buildings which you could store in year around.

Re: Burning Post-ACL Surgery?

I worked in med school knee surgery research. We did a lot on ACL and PCL. I know many aerial dancers. Risks are dependent on the repair. Discuss with your surgeon the risks. Around the house and neighborhood is one thing. The possible extremes in BRC are another. As a veteran burner, you know there...

Tell us a little bit more about what you are trying to accomplish.

I'm familiar with a (vibratory) plate compactor, a jumping jack compactor and a sheep's foot compactor. I think they all will just make dust.

Thanks Mr Token on 3.65GHZ band changes! The BORG is requesting if you are using the 900MHz ISM band that you notify them. There were also intermittent bursts of noise in the 5GHz band which disrupted operations intermittently. So it is requested 5GHz be limited to the assigned participant & art pro...

Hey Sparr, thanks for your contributions to the event. Honestly. It took us a while to figure you out on ePlaya and you stuck with us! 2018 Internet Connectivity Update

The organizers in my observation let the event morph and evolve, only stepping in to make rules and changes when the culture goes off track or the event and its participants are endangered. Many people believe the immediacy of the event, a smile, eye contact and full on in-the-playa moment are incom...

Re: Foam(?) for keeping dust out through large weird shaped gaps?

The price you save by using some inexpensive or free upholstery cushion foam can be spent on an oxygen monitor alarm for safety in sealed spaces. You can just throw some fabric over the foam for aesthetics. Playa dust is smaller than any filter, but opening the door will let more in than will travel...

There is more demand for tickets than there are tickets. 19% of tickets are sold between people who know one another at face value. Over 100 pilots fly their own personal aircraft to the playa each year. Any flights that fly in, drop passengers and leave have to be run by Burner Express Air - Dusty Charter. There is no way to say ahead of time. There could be an accident, gate could shut for wind or dust, there could be a range fire. Follow the @bmtraffic Twitter and take strategic breaks. Having a nice meal at Brunos or shopping at Wadsworth are ideas. I think someone made some graphs of exodus last y...

Agree. I hear virgins who think of the event as Halloween which has a tradition for some of going into their costume shell. Re: ** First Aid **

I don't blame the ORG for wanting campers to be more self reliant in cuts and scrapes. But what is needed is to clean the wound in the field. The skin around the would is going to have sweat and playa dust which is not sterile and will irritate the wound with salts. Therefore some single use 100ml s...

Will call tickets have a name CC and email for the order, not the individual tickets.

So you can pick up the order at will call and do anything you like with the physical tickets.

To the OP, we often repeat that "don't bring anything to the burn you cannot afford to be destroyed or that you cannot afford to lose." The playa is extremely flat, with some small dust dunes. If you can get around your hometown with a person-powered bike, an ebike is not necessary on the playa. Pro...

Bring an old bike that no one would want to steal. Lock it with a good U-lock (not the round key type.) Remember where you park it. Always a good idea to put your mobile phone number, playa name and camp address on it for good measure. As Mr Token says don't get into a fight. That is a 100% effectiv...

The Org has a new Afterburn format. Many of us like the detailed pre-2014 format and this is going back in that direction. https://journal.burningman.org/2017afterburn/ In 2016 the borg reported BxA at about 2400. They now sum in and out to 5800 in 2017, or about 2800 net round trips. BxB in 2017 is...
