Why do you say that High Rock Security can't function? They do.
I did not say that.

I don't think for profit businesses built by burners are "community" which burners need any special loyalty to beyond long time individual person to person relationships outside the burn.

Each person is an individual. I have generally oily skin and hair and have been sheltering under NW clouds for some time. YMMV. I generally clean my body and hair in the late afternoon, then head out for a night on the town, sometimes coming home dusty. I try to keep the dust down in the tent. I'll ...

That's the last time the VOA and friends will speak out of school:

Re: How much water to bring

Sunday through Monday is 8 days. Mid-day Sunday through mid-day Monday is 7 days. I usually bring 20 gallons. I take an about 1/2 - 2/3 gallon solar camping shower each full day. I usually end up with extra at the end. I like to get 5 gallon camp water storage containers and keep them filled around ...

The beach is similar with wind, though usually more consistent on direction. You can use playa shelters on the beach, except you need more helpers with shovels and dead man anchors, rather than stakes/screws.

Thanks RD! I believe I saw there is a new group of FB dedicated to licensed operators - Burning Ham. The classic source is the [brc-wifi-list] email exploder. It has information on setting up wifi for your camp, and it has been used for informal frequency coordination. It is kind of quiet now. The B...

A lot of our car care advice can be found by searching for various combinations of dust, rental, car, RV. If you run the blower with outside air, the dust will get into the ventilation system for all eternity. The dust smells like ammonia. I would tape over the external vent inlet on the hood before...

Re: Pop up shade tent and gone with the wind

I can see the attraction of 2 pop-ups with shade cloth between. But I don't believe pop-ups can be trusted to stay standing on their own. Shade cloth catches wind roughly in proportion to its sun blocking percentage. So that is an additional load on a weak pop-up. One of the burner tools is the "bur...

Re: Pop up shade tent and gone with the wind

You will see pop-ups at the burn that survive, and you will see tangled remains that didn't. Broken pop ups are very hard to transport home, they don't pack well because they don't fold. On ePlaya there is a branch, Building Camps and Villages with many discussions of "Shade Structures." The classic...
