Re: Cordless hammer drill to drive rebar?

1 ePlaya is a big proponent of lag screws

2 I think cordless combination hammers will not have enough energy. I would suggest >5 ft-lb energy. They often require >10 Amps @120V. So you are into a generator, which has many uses. You probably already know about ground rod driver bits.

Re: laundry on the playa?

If you have power, an air compressor with a blower nozzle gets some dust off. Of course 1 that compressor becomes the playa compressor, you can never run anything good off it at home 2 it needs some kind of input filter which won't filter the finest dust 3 oilless compressor 4 blowing the dust off w...

1. Go to The Roadside Attraction 1000 SE 12th between 6-11PM any Tuesday. It's a weekly burner meetup. Introduce yourself. 2. Read all the prep information links completely at the top of this forum. That will take a few days. 3. Frankly, Reddit and many FB groups are weak information sources in comp...

"Thou Shalt Not Tailgate" - BRC Post Office & Art Cars

Thou Shall Not Tailgate is a new independent film about Reverend Chuck Linville, Portland Cacaphony co-founder, BRC Post Office fixture (founder?) and burner since 1994. It focuses on his art cars, his creative residence and touches on early Burning Man. Chuck is actually a disgruntled postal worker...

Have you worked in life risk situations anonymously?

The event is all about anonymous in contrast to what is called 'default world" participation.

I always enjoy Doc Pyro's political view posts and frankly think more would be fun. But a better response would be a playful (counter) repartee. I mean given the turnkey broification of the event, all is lost, right? To the Doc, the repatriation should have been hinged on long term 5+ year USA job c...

Re: OK so what the hell did I miss (the good old days)?

The event is always changing! Camps come and go, and you will find your own favorite camps in any year. I started after the shooting gallery era. I think there were more camping clothes and fewer costumes in the late 90s. Costumes and the visual design of camps really picked up in the early 00s as t...

Welcome. Sometimes we have useful things to say. Our common advice is meet your regional in person, read all the instructions, make a packing list, costumes, don't over-commit in the first year and leave some time after you return to processes - I take a few days before returning to work. Not everyo...

Re: Shipping Container for Kodiak Tent

As Ratty said, they are heavy. You don't want the packing to add to that. I would pack the tent and poles+stakes separately. Tent in a heavy duty duffel, even wheeled duffel, ideally with playa capable wheels. For the poles it might be a good idea to protect the fitting ends from dents. So a ski bag...

This is a strange thread. But the topic is in my realm. Net not-neutrality is entirely due to video viewing on the net. It makes up about 75% of net traffic today, and rising. Net not-neutrality allows last mile service providers to omit providing universal service. They do not have to provide servi...
