Re: Nazca Lines?

lemur - A strange choice of words when you offer no options. Please suggest a better funding model. Water will evaporate, raking will be destroyed by the traffic. Discs can be burned in the fire, and everyone can contribute something to their favorite burn. maladroit - Ok, what do you suggest? I fig...

Nazca Lines?

They fly over our heads, peering down into our lives 24/7. They are nearly invisible, untouchable, and yet their message is everywhere. Satellites are extra terrestrials, and their television message is an invasion into our physical and mental space. I feel it is high time we let them know their wel...

Anyone interested in a Black Rock City Hack Space?

I don't really have plans at this time. The idea keeps tickling my brain and I don't know how to make it stop.

Re: Looking for hydraulics & mechanical engineers

Oh, and here's the one I built:
It's much more stable now. Point is I've got the software all done, and I can drive it from a playstation controller. Now I want to scale up and I need help, please.

Looking for hydraulics & mechanical engineers

Hi! Are you a fan of The Beast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBsAdfcCXKA) and the MondoSpider (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLOVdo_Qu3E)? I've build a 2' wide crab robot that *doesnt* drag its feet and I want to build it again, bigger. Much bigger. I'm thinking of using the boom & stick from the...

who provided sms service on the playa?

If you know who provided cell/sms service on the playa in 2010 and have their contact info, please send me a private message. I wish to talk to them about an art project for 2012.

Thank you!

Help with an event camp

Hi, everybody. This year I thought I'd try my hand at running an event camp (camp lasting less than a day) Tired of having people rip off all the street signs at the end of the week? Feel a need to get creative and lack direction? Together, sunday, we'll make all new replacement signs to decorate th...

The question was 'will the camp be happening'?

I have friends who are staying with the lost penguins so I can only assume it is happening.

I asked to stay with them and volunteered to tend bar and work in the kitchen. I was told I might not be a good fit. *shrug*

I'm still getting private messages about this camp even though we didn't apply to become an official theme camp. I'm (still) very moved. I'm coming from Vancouver and probably carpooling with a friend. I'll have just about enough room for my own junk. I'd be happy to "run" this camp and, if enough p...

I'm still in love with this idea but my closest camp-mates say "maybe we should wait until we've been going a few more years, and have experience with well run camps."

I haven't decided how I feel about that, yet.

The Costco wholesale find-a-soulmate was PACKED in 08. Long, long lineups.

Curious fact: I was born on the Burnal equinox, International women's day. So I guess I have something to look forward to in the cold dark of a rainy vancouver spring.

True, true. It was still a great place to camp. Plus they have their own dome and (in 2008) were stationed on the 6:00 line, so it was easy to get to sleep and find in dust storms.

gyre, you raise good points. Thanks for your constructive criticism. It sounds like you've been to BM before and that you're very outgoing - you certainly don't have any trouble expressing how you think BM works and why people go :) Some people "get it" and some don't, even though they came all the ...

fciron - good ideas, good ideas! A list of events to do at non "pairing off" times so there's something for everyone at every time of day. Maybe people who succeed at the "challenges" can get a prize like a "permission slip"?

Hmm... Lambic, your post makes me think that maybe having "pairing up" event at certain times of day would be best. 10 am, 2pm, 6pm, and 10pm. That way people aren't left hanging around the camp wondering when someone will help them. Oooh! Tape recorders. Get people to record their stories about bei...

Camp "Adopt a Shy Person"

Hello, All! I've never run a theme camp before but I think I've got a good idea for one and I wonder if anyone else is interested in helping with it. So far the idea is: group a) shy people who want to come out of their shells. group b) outgoing people (especially those who used to be shy). pair of ...
