Geodome software
I finally got around to making a Mac OSX installer for geodome, since a lot of people were having trouble applying my patch and compiling the source code themselves. The author hasn't put it up on his site yet but if you trust software from a random dude on the eplaya you can get it here. Sorry it's...

I ported that geodome software to Mac OS X, and it is a peach. Not terribly intuitive, but read the instructions and you'll be okay. Lets you deform your standard dome (like frinstance to enlarge an entranceway,) generates strut lists and cover patterns with a bunch more detail than the online Dome ...

Aluminum conduit?
I was thinking of trying some 3/4 aluminum rigid conduit -- it's beefier and less corrodible than steel EMT and only 80% as heavy. (Aluminum EMT doesn't seem to be available in sizes under 2.) Is this overkill, considering I'm not planning on cantilevering heavy objects with it? The wall thickness i...

I'm not saying "Pizza sucks! Burn down the pizzarias and chase all the Italians out of town! Grrr!" It's more like, "Dude, I wish there was a bit more variety in the friggin' food court." I realize I'm a little late to this conversation, but I'm having a hard time letting this slide: "Food court" i...

Rather than trying to enforce a behavior on everyone, why not provide the much simpler solution of allowing people to edit themselves if they wish ? No one has suggested forcing people to edit their posts, so volition is really not an issue here. No-edit doesn't actively "enforce behavior" as you'r...

I nominate everyone.
I'm a bit surprised no one has suggested a Slashdot style moderation system. The gist of it is that everyone is a moderator, and while moderation powers are extremely limited for any one individual, in aggregate they're quite effective. The way Slashdot does it is to semirandomly hand out a number o...

Stalin would have voted for an edit button.
The inability to edit enfoces a certain stasis I might be, as a growing and changing being, unwilling to accept. I might find that I no longer hold positions on issues or opinions on topics that I once held. The ability to go back and edit your past self is a fun fantasy (who hasn't said "If I knew...
