It's giving me goose-bumps just thinking about it. I sat in total solitude, oblivious to the thousands around me - very hypnotic and solem. Got to watch my favorite Uncle meet his maker and find everlasting peace without any more pain. Don't smoke. What an amazing end to a truly magical week on the ...

You are right on all accounts! A simple way to get some added cooling is with a mister over the radiator. It's anot a real fix, but if you are right on the edge and see a hill looming, the mist will buy 15 degrees or so and is pretty simple to install, just use distilled water to avoid covering your...

I agree 100% on the power thing, but it might be that there is enough power now, but limited by the gearing in which case top speed will still be low. CI and turbo don't necessarily gain higher RPM, I don't think. A bit more research is in order - adding a turbo and extra cooling is a pretty spendy ...

Kinetic V There are lots of busses with auto, mostly Alloson 4-speeds. They are great transmissions, rugged, and easy to drive, but your milage will drop to about 7-8 mpg. Thats the price you pay for comfort. Chesk out the "bus nuts" forum, it's a really great bunch of very knowledgable bus folk and...

Sounds like a real pain. I have a bus too - bought it 6 months ago and have put about a 1000 hrs & $10K into it to make it cool. Its called the Jungle bus - did the interior in jungle/safari with lots of zebra, leopard, etc . I had a great trip. My drive was only 4 hours to BRC, but I can see how a ...

Lonestoner & Amy - That is so fantastic that it all came together! A lot of people and a lot of work - sorry I missed it. If you guys are still in need of help, I can come up next week- this week has been crazy. The good news is I get to meet some local burners for dinner and B/M movies tonight. Jim

Hapto, Great response. I'm kind of local - in Nv but about 3 hours south - and might be able to help. I have time and a big truck! If there is nobody closer, I might be able to take a drive up next week. I mentioned in an earlier post that there is a giant decompression in Reno this weekend - which ...

I think it would be a great idea to have a public transit - maybe something that went around on like e one way, and back on f with a regular schedule. I'm one of those people who ca't walk far, and it I neve got to the other side of the event. We were the camp that had the persian 2 story bus - the ...

Ames - You still there? There are some pretty heated "discussions" here, so don't be afraid to jump back in! Anything you can add here without compromising the law suits that are out there? Lonestoner - I like your idea of having a Burning Man lawyer take a look - this is obviously a real sore subje...

Ames, Glad to hear you are here in Reno. It will be a challange no doubt, but I guess the good news is there isn't a lot of competition, so if you keep the milk and beer cold, and the bread fresh, you have time to work out the bugs! Just an FYI, read some of the posts regarding the store - the peopl...

Ames, I just saw the announcment on the news - bummer! You might send an email to the reno burner group - they are having a big de-compression event this weekend and you might be able to set up a table and maybe ask for donations?? I'm a newbe here and don't know all the rules, but the burner commun...

ibdave, Hey, if I can help and it doesn't cause me any grief, no big deal. I don't know these guys or what the bus looks like and need to decide if it is too much - really don't want an abandoned 40 bus in my yard! On the other hand, if it is a decent rig and the guys seem responsible, I might have ...

Hey Grapes - welcome! '08 was my first too. I spent lots of time at the Petting Zoo too - great little hang out. Our camp was just up the road at 2:30 and Dart so it was easy to find my way home- always a good thing! The dust was a kick - about 3 hours of hiding in the monday storm, we bundled up an...

Holy shit! My barn is 20x40 so it might be hard to "hide"! The neighbors will know for sure that I'm a burner... I was in the camp with the KazBus - the one that looks like a persian castle - london double-deck with a dance floor on top, lots of flags. They are a GREAT way to do burning man. Let me ...

Wow, this is cool. I'm 59 in a week. '08 was my first burn and I too am working on 09. I had a blast! It is the only place I can think of where you can be totally free - and after lots of years as a CEO type, it is so refreshing! I kind of had the impression that many of the benefactors of the event...

My wife lets me go, and she really seems to enjoy her time alone. Ours is a trust thing too - I'm a habitual flirt, love women, but don't cross the line. She doesn't either. The playa and the whole atmosphere is just not her, but I'm an old hippie and it fits me to a tee! I friggin love it. I met so...

Thanks. I know that many were concerned and some down right pissed, but after a few days, and the 1000's who visited it, I got the impression it was a hit and people loved it. New Carson City Burner - HELLO ALL YOU BURNERS!!!
Hi ALL! 08 was my first burn, and I loved it!! What a life changing experience - kind of a cross between Las Vegas, Mad Max, and Woodstock - but better than any of them. I'm a techie and was dumbfounded by the art and technology that was there. It puts Vegas to shame at night! The lasers, fire, art ...
