Union Pacific has a line that runs up from Reno, into California, and then over through Gerlach. They used to run more Intermodal trains from the bay area up to the Reno junction, through Doyle, ca and Flannigan, nv to Gerlach. But, they recently lowered rail beds and notched out tunnels on Donner p...

I was there this weekend, and it felt pretty dry. It was in perfect condition, but I don't know how that will change over summer.

Alright, good to know.

I was camping out there on Halloween. the forecast showed no rain...but sure enough, I awoke at 2am to a downpour. The Drive out was nothing short of 'Scary as Hell."
Lucky we got out early, too...It rained off an on for 3 days after.

I was on the playa Easter Sunday and drove around a little. By the middle of May most of the playa will be drivable, just be a little careful. The basic rule of driving on the playa is, if you're kicking up a cloud of dust the playa is ok to drive on, if you are not raising dust it is wet and you a...

We risk our permit if we don't. I don't think that's true. People have been camping on the land far before Burning Man was around. And many others use it as well. Just because the Festival is held on a fraction of the land doesn't put it off limits to all other use. As far as Alkali Lake goes, I'll...

On a serious note, leave the fuckin' place alone and camp somewhere else. Isn't it enough that 50,000+ people go there every year enough? Shit, there's plenty of desert out there that a man can die of dehydration in. Go explore! Utah is full of Mormons, spread the word! It just so happens that this...

May on the playa...

Hey, I've been camping on the playa many times, and a few friends and I planned a trip in mid May. It just dawned on me, though, that I've never been there in late spring--only in fall. So, I understand that It may be impassable at that time of year. Does anybody know if the playa is usually dry eno...

Yeah thought that'd be quite funny as well. I'm in a Hardcore/psychobilly band, but i doubt we could get one of the three members to go. Mayble I'll just bring some drums and hope for a guitarist who want to stick it to Larry Harvey.

Hardcore or Punk rock at burning man?

Though I found a ska sort of band, a few rock and roll bands, and of course enough electronic music to take over the world, I never ran across any Hardcore or Punk Rock bands. Do any exist out there? Would people find it too angry?
Thanks

No, It's not still out there.
BUT, A few friends and I were out there last month and saw a giant structure towards where BRC is usually set up. We went to go investigate, and it was a 2 story tall Rain Maker. Like a cinematic rain maker.
Weird.

You should also keep in mind that Reno has every store imaginable. *fishy imagines stores* The Vibrator Store with booths so you can see if the merchandise suits you. I did a report on Junk Mail last year...They get your name and address by either buying it from other companies, getting people to sign up for prizes, or by setting up "Stop junk mail" lists.
If it required you to give them your address, chances are good that they will use it against you.
