Re: Greetings!

Hello everyone! I’m beyond excited to introduce myself. My name is Kris, I hail from northern Connecticut, USA, and I’m beginning my expedition into the world of Burning Man! It’ll probably be some time before I’m actually able to go to Black Rock City in person, but for now I’m more than happy to ...

It appears that the John Lewis funeral is taking attention away from Donnie, so his outrageous tweet is meant to distract from the funeral and shine the light on him again. He's a toddler.

Re: Politics, Everyday, All day... morning, noon and night....II

As we look back nearly 60 years ago, I will acknowledge that times and views were different. It's unpopular to even try to explain how people thought back then. There was a pretty clear line between black and white then, and was unusual to see a white face protesting. The idea that now in 2020 it's ...

Stored camp and playa gear

There are hundreds of storage units all over northern Nevada, filled to the top with camp gear and infrastructure. These units are paid for with camp dues--that are not happening this year. Depending on virus containment, what will be happening to all this equipment stored away? There were entire st...

I am trying hard to stay optimistic. It's getting harder to do it.
If this virus is still around in January, it will continue to flair up.
How do you keep people and infrastructure together if 2021 doesn't happen?

If I'm ever out that way, I would certainly head to the playa and have my lunch there. I will stick around for a few hours and then go home.

I still find myself buying them when I find them in the store. I keep a couple of boxes in the freezer, just in case someone from the Bureau of Land Management comes for dinner. :P You realize those don't stay good indefinitely. You have to consume and replenish that stock on a regular schedule. I'...

First thing to do on the playa in 2021

If all the planets align for us, we'll be back in Black Rock City in August of 2021. After setting up camp and getting things in order, what will be the first thing you will be doing on the playa? I am craving a walk to the Man installation and just hanging out there until I am covered in dust. I re...

Hello Terry, nice to hear you're coming back home to the playa. There are so many life altering events that happen each year on the playa, and so many people you meet who become lifelong friends. This will be my first time in 20 years that I will miss the playa. The magic will still be there in 2021...

Re: So who is still going?

It would be great if the org could/would buy up a larger resort hotel in Reno and make it a year round Burning Man hotel. Larryland could become a reality. All the toilets could be removed from the rooms and we could poop and pee in buckets. You ever stay at The Morris? No, but Jungle Jim gave me a...

Re: So who is still going?

I have a feeling that the Black Rock Desert will become a magnet for people toward mecca for generations to come. This year however, I fully expect that there will be police blocking the roads for people attempting to camp on the site where Burning Man is held.

Re: Everything lost is gone forever

If the virus is under control by April 2021, the event will most likely happen in August 2021. That's still 24 months(ish) between events. If 2021 is missed, I'm afraid that the staff might be scattered to the four winds with a 36 month gap. Even in retail, stores being shuttered for 3 months can't ...

Re: Organizing a free post-quarantine celebration in SF

This party may be postponed for a year or more. I think we'll be on lock down several more times before this nightmare is behind us. The governors are doing a good job, but they are spoon feeding us a few weeks at a time. If they said lock down for 6 months, people would freak out.

This documentary is about a guy who shows up at Burning Man with NOTHING. No clothes, no supplies, no shoes---NOTHING. It takes you on his adventure of surviving and thriving for the week as people help and donate things to him. This shows a nice slice of the playa. Note: he's really naked. You've b...

Re: The Future of Burning Man

To me, burning Man has always been the place where I could leave my technology packed away and connect to people face to face in the most inhospitable place I've ever been. Spending the week living completely out of my (former) comfort zone and covered in a haze of gray dust seems to be an attractio...

Re: The Future of Burning Man

I really wish the the event could just be frozen and then resume when things are back to normal. As it is, there will be a two year gap between events, and who really knows what 2021 will bring. This virus may not be under control by then.
