Holy Hippie Batman!!
Call me a bleeding-heart hippie, but if someone's curled up like this (unless it's performance art of course) than someone should be giving him help. Is that punk kid actually flipping off the cameraman? This is one fucked up culture we're in...when violence and pain are acceptable, and making love...

So how many art cars WERE cited for dangerous driving on the playa this year? And how many of them removed? This is actually a really good question that hasn't been aswered yet. It would also be interestiing to find out how many warnings/tickets were handed out for going faster than the 5 mph speed...

EXACTLY the same bullshit attitude of entitlement that I believe many of them were operating under as they selfishly made things difficult for pedestrians, bikers and other art car operators. believe = informed. nice. and, ooooh I love when you talk with all caps. give me a tingle. oh, and of cours...

enjoy your time in europe or brazil CF. I will enjoy mine on the playa. As far as la contessa goes, I think you are on track when you say nothing as beautiful will ever be built. While I would not go quite that far, never say never afterall, I do think it was rather iconic and gorgeous. Still, I wi...

Sorry... the lingo's got my baby. I'm still trying to figure out what "apadavids" is. Any resemblance with Eric the Half A Bee? Apadavid - noun 1. A person (usually with the name of David, but not all the time) that has no oppinion of his/her own, but constintly reaffirms everyone else's oppinion w...

ever stop to think that they were limiting the number people on board for safety reasons? Given the facts Tuba, that's the most disingenuous shit you've muttered to date. With all the other experiences related to the operation of the Contessa I doubt seriously that limiting the number of people on ...

Regarding banning La Contessa: I gotta say, I loved the ship, adore Extra-Action, and am very sorry to see them go (I know Extra Action wasn't banned, but their web page says they'll be skipping the event next year). That being said, they fucked up. A huge vehicle careening around under the control...

I'm confussed. if the purpose of a speed limit is to keep everyone safe. why, then, is everything burnt? isn't that unsafe?

> who is this deciding factor of Burning man and who lets them make > these decisions, decisions like "Banning Art" like La Contessa. I'm not sure what parallel you're drawing here. Jiffy Lube was asked to take their sign out of view of the general public because it (probably) violated local Nevada...

http://www.burningman.com/blackrockcity_yearround/jrs/extras/jiffylube.html that is a very good example of what I am thinking about. and one of the biggest questions raised by this article is "The question that remains for us to answer is exactly whose standards were violated. Did a twelve foot tal...

BurningMan vs. Nascar
I find the simularities between Nascar and Burningman very funny. thousands of people flock to a far off place to camp in MotorHomes and tents, dress funny, decorate their camps and drink/do drugs for a week. The only difference I see is that one embraces the economy of waste and the other shourds i...

I think the official phrase you are seeking is "immediate experience" (but I could be wrong). As for art being banned, do you want to talk about a specific example, or is this just a hypothetical future possibility? the example has already happened... no need for specifics, because I want to have a...

What is a "Direct Experience" and how is someone's "Direct Experience" interfered with at burningman?
and what happens to burningman when art projects start getting banned from attending?
