Re: Driving from the Pacific Northwest to BRC? Free camping
You guys are so awesome for continuing to offer this service, thank you so much! Myself and the engineer from our theme camp (Tree Ring Circus) dropped in on you late night in 2009 and you helped us fill up our barrels for our mister system. Your gift of water (and the music whilst you helped us fil...

Re: Climbing Wall Interactive art for 2013
We built a climbing wall for our Esplanade camp in 2009. My husband and I are by no means structural engineers, and the thing held up just fine and got brought out for a second time the next year. Ours was much simpler than yours, though; it was in the form of an X, with no overhangs. We made all of...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012
Another problem is that this creates uncertainty for those of us planning art installations, theme camps, mutant vehicles, etc. I must now ask myself whether or not I should I go ahead with the time-consuming, labor intensive (a labor of love, mind you) plans I have for our theme camp. It would brea...

The biggest bummer ever
It is with the deepest most sincere regret that I must announce that the Supper Club will not be coming to the playa this year. My husband and I were the two camp members pushing this project through, and we hit an unexpected financial wall a couple of weeks ago. After a weekend spent in limbo as we...

Depends upon the ingredients. As it stands right now I'm planning on being the primary chef for all of the meals unless someone else wants to step in and take over for the night. I'm working within a strict budget so will be utilizing whole foods and staple ingredients for the majority of my meals, ...

For those interested in being a guest chef in our camp, some more info: Our camp is new this year: Emerald City. We are 3 of the 4 founders of Tree Ring Circus, which you may have visited last year at 7:30 and Esplanade. We had a climbing wall out front, a large parachute held up by handmade iron tr...

Doc Helix, there is still room at the table for you! Please pm me with your home address, as we may be sending out our invitations via snail mail prior to the event. Cap'n Goddammit, you already win, as I've never made a margarita in my life. I do make some tasty sangria, though, and you're welcome ...

Or could be that your knowledge of non-animal food sources is pretty limited if you can only think of three ingredients that fall into ...
Well now, "vegan" rules out bacon... which rules out "talented chef".
I just read an article the other day written by a chef (non-vegan) who was essentially decrying bacon as a cop-out ingredient. His position was that some chefs have become overly dependent on bac...

Looking for talented performers and vegan chefs
There will be a couple of vegan opportunities through our camp this year: One is the chance for vegan cooks to act as guest chef for an evening during one of our supper clubs. You get a fully outfitted vegan kitchen to work in (no setup for you!) the opportunity to cook for a small group of celebran...

Ok, I just checked twice and yeah, I really am viewing the Theme Camp section. a) You are not a theme camp. I know this because you have stated no theme. You are some people camping together. b) You are asking for help in the theme camp section. I do not know about the rest of the folks on here, but...

Tree Ring Circus
Update on our camp:
Our name is Tree Ring Circus, and within our camp you'll be able to boulder, enjoy live music, drink a smoothie, sit under our misters, and dance your funky pants off at night. All with a forest theme. Hooray.

Outside vs Inside cats
The difference there is that your cats were able to go outside, whereas our cats and clreindeer's cats are not. We live next to a very busy street, and are not willing to risk letting them out. Cats still have some wild in them, and the majority of them are in heaven when outside chasing bugs throug...

Leaving your cats for an extended period
Hi all, We went to BRC for our first time in 2008. We have two inside cats, and being separated for so long was hard for all of us! Let me share with you what we did in order to soothe our furry friends as much as possible while we were away: We had a friend house sit for us. The kitties were happy ...

Food allergies
That's a great question. I'm allergic to wheat, sugar, and almonds (among other things), so I know quite a bit about being vegan with food allergies. The wheat is the real killer for me because of the vital wheat gluten that's in Tofurkey as well as a lot of other fake meats. For the week and a half...

Vegan goodness
Hi wesdex, welcome to eplaya. I am a vegan, and was vegan last year at Burning Man. I was a virgin, and none of my camp mates (I was with a theme camp) were vegan, so I was pretty much on my own to figure out how to make sure my partner and I were adequately fed. I ate well, but I did learn a hell o...

Re: Camp 4
"do we need insurance?"
Personal insurance is always a good idea when engaging in shenanigans, and the stuff you can climb on at our camp is by no means the highest thing you can find to climb on at BRC. It's just more technical than most.
