Does the ticket program have a problem with this? I am sharing a house with another burner. Seem to recall reading somewhere that the anti scalping algorithms had a problem with this. Searched a bit and didn't find anything. ???
Thanks!

Re: Does your camp have a meal plan for ME?
You would hate the "meal plan" at Barbie Death Camp . Suffice it to say we ain't Burger King. You don't get it your way. You get it our way and like it or you don't get it all. Gluten free? Fuck that. Vegetarian? What the hell do we look like, hippies? Health food? Only if bacon, absinthe, and mimo...

I agree completely. As mentioned elsewhere, I believe that big, long term, changes will result from this years ticket experiences.

Your hyperboly aside, the BMorgs lack of transparency on all these issues adds significant credence to the NYT story along with other mainstream media pieces.

That was sure a lot of words to say that they still don't know what the fuck they are going to do to solve the problem. It was actually a lot like reading that post here from the PR person. Some of it almost word for word. I noticed that too. I saw input there from at least 3 of us. There is actual...

I'm older than you :) I've been a few times. All the advice above is great and I note that the authors are well respected folks around here. My $.02 is that you keep it simple your first year. Bring a camping tent. Bring some bigger stakes. As other have pointed out, rebar can be overkill for some a...

No worries on the drift. And very good point about traffic. IMO traffic is the biggest controlling factor in the long term equation. Particularly now that current ticket demand suggests BM will be at it's max projected growth rate for the forseeable future.

I particularly note the reporter who was asked by the BMorg to sign a form preventing him from asking any questions about BMorg finances - prior to conducting any interviews...

Lets see,
On the one hand we have badger (who is approaching stalker status).
On the other hand we have articles from respected authors that have run in publications like the NYT and SFBG.

<snip> That's on top of the pre sale 10,000. <snip> Do you know for sure if there were 10,000 lottery entrants for the pre sale? obviously not. But given the massive oversubscription of the main sale (nearly 3x) I find it hard to believe that the presale did not sell 10k tickets. There has also bee...

Want to join a theme camp or group?
This is your year!
Every group or theme camp is going to be short handed due to the ticket debacle. I figure 20% short will be about average.
So pick a camp and volunteer! Make it happen! Pretty much every organization will need some people.
Cheers!

Now we know a bit more
'we had nearly three times the number of tickets requested than we had available tickets' Andie Grace That means about ~110,000 tickets were requested. That's on top of the pre sale 10,000. Scalping is not the problem. I've focused on scalping as the primary issue driving change and that was clearly...

Re: What are "Diamond Lanes"
Diamond lanes are typically used for rush hour traffic in big cities. They are express or commuter lanes. Some require high occupancy vehicles or a toll. There is no chance of such a thing happening on HWY447 without adding a lane.

Re: Interesting read--open sale may be cancelled.
10k tickets will not come close to filling the gap. If the LLC dumps their last 10k tickets on the theme campers then the secondary market will explode. If you think there was scalping last year...you ain't seen nothing yet. Or the LLC could hold the 10k tickets and trickle them out on the secondary...

If it's understood as "anyone is welcome" instead of "everyone is guaranteed to be able to attend" it can still exist fine. Your point is excellent. But what happens when you factor in all the groups that get tickets regardless? Conclave? All the various skill sets like DPW and Rangers and center c...

Everyone here talks about scalpers as if they are some 'other' group of people. I have bad news for you. Out of 50k+ burners there are more than enough willing to sell tickets at a profit. In other words, we are the scalpers. Burner ethics? Hmmmm.... Well, having worked in very large very ethical or...

In economics perception is often reality. In our case the perception of a shortage has caused people to act like there IS a shortage. Reality is not relevant in this case. Perception is in the driver's seat. The Org is screwed and fighting a deparate rear-guard action. Bummer. Profit estimate for th...

Not at all too late to make a positive change to this mess. Names can still be put on tickets . Ask those that won the lottery for the names, now. Either that, or it goes back into the STEP. A simple ID and ticket check at the gate won't overly slow down entry (hell, I've waited 4+ hours on the pla...

The org needs to put a significant number of tickets for sale on the STEP system so that it will be shown to be viable. Any time scalper tickets go up in cost, the org should release a few more tickets to drive down the price. Make it very clear that scalpers will be undercut every time. The idea th...
