Re: cooling your tent or van

So my bucket cooler kicked some major ass this year. Thanks so much FIGJAM. With the cooler running I usually slept until about 11:30am and one day I even slept until 4pm! Since I camp in a truck tent I also attached the bucket to the top of a ladder so the air has less distance to travel. My cooler...

Re: Truck Tent

<bump> Anyone have experience with truck tents? Thoughts? Like one of these: http://images.cabelas.com/is/image/cabelas/s7_516446_999_01?rgn=0,0,1678,1182&scl=5.372727272727273&fmt=jpeg&id=3bu_acPEQe0sFTFbfGwR1T Is it worth it to spend the extra $80 or so for one of the canvas models?? I have this ...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Thanks :-)

Yes, I did drill a few holes on the underside of the T connector. Also I have the T section over the one part of the bucket that does not have a hole in the side. That way if the pad doesn't get totally soaked it wont matter much since there is no vent right there.

Re: cooling your tent or van

Ok so here is a little update on my cooler. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n22/zupermike/DIY%20Projects/IMG_3180.jpg I scrapped my first bucket and changed the hole pattern. Previously my holes were both too low and too high on the bucket. The low ones didn't allow more than 2 gallons in the buc...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Everything I read on the net says not to discharge your lead acid battery below 50% or it will shorten its life. Mounting your fans side by side will double the air flow. So am I doing it wrong by having my fans inline with each other? It seems that I don't get enough air flow with just the one fan...

Re: cooling your tent or van

What, if anything, are people using to fasten different plastic pieces to each other? (For instance, the plastic bowl to the top of the bucket) I tried "Gorilla Glue" but it's basically worthless for this task. I used Goop to attach my bowl to the lid. I also used it to attach my big fan and to att...

I just finished my first bucket cooler. let me know what you think. I can't do a good test since the air here in Orange County isn't dry enough but the pad is soaked and I can feel the air being sucked though it. I used the HF solar pump and two computer fans. The large fan mounted to the lid is an ...

Hey Zuper.... I was just wondering how comfy that seat is on the 3rd bike down that has no nose on it? Ive seen those in stores and wonder if they are worth it? Thanks! It's alright, It's comfortable it just takes some getting used to. Since there in no nose you can't grip it with your legs. You ju...

Zuper that trike ROCKS!!!! I think that a chopper would look sweet with the trike attachment too! Back in the 80's they used to make side hacks for bmx bikes....they were similar to a side car but no seat. http://www.patriotbicycles.com/Sidehacks.htm Nice. I was just researching sidehacks last nigh...

@lonestoner916 Thx. Everyone goes crazy over the "Munster Trike." :-)

BTW does anyone know why there is the rule about no seats on scooters? I'm totally fine with removing my seat I was just wondering. It's the homeschooler in me that was always taught to "question authority."

I designed it, but my friend did the welding. The flames I cut myself with his plasma torch.... The flame affects...not shown...I did myself. Curious...have you ever tried making a tracked bicycle? You mean with tank like tracks instead of wheels? No, not sure how you would go about do that. Next o...

@AntiM yea I probably won't end up putting speakers on it. I was considering making a better muffler for it but its really not that loud. Only at high speeds does it really get noisy. I'll still probably make one though. It idles nicely just above walking speed :-) @Gyre The tires are the standard B...

DIY Scooter

Check out my motorized scooter that I recently built. I was hoping to bring it with me this year to burningman. I've read the rules about single rider and no seats for stand up scooters so I was planning on removing the seat and seat post. I will also be adding neon lighting as well as a normal head...
