WILDERNESS CALLING YOU?

back to burning man this year from the UK, but this time I've been all clever and given myself 20 days from the end of the festival until my flight. So i'm planning planning. I have just finished 4 weeks solo hiking in the White Mountain National Forest in New Hakpshire/Maine, and now I am thinking ...

It stunning huh?
I just got out after 4 weeks solo hiking. it was wonderful.
I was under the impression that the last possible ascent of Kathadin was Oct 15...... maybe i got that wrong. I met quite a few AT crew. They were cool guys.

25k miles?
or 2.5k?
I reckon 25k will get you much further than Nevada.... In fact it might just get you right the way around and back to Alaska.
Sounds ace either way to be honest

Who was that guy? no, the one in the fishnet bodystocking

I've been away for a year, but back this year with the added thrill of a cross continent train from Boston.... I am really looking forward to re-connecting with everyone from '09: That awesome guy, what was his name, yeah him, from the drum banging tent - we really got each other's rhythm. And there...

Hey! We were in your exact position two years ago. Happy to say we are going back this year.... So we stayed here http://www.sanremohotel.com/ Its like an old stage post or something. Its a cute place, prety ancient, nice vibe, nothing at all fancy, but definitely friendly. Plus it was like $60 a ni...

I object to the use of the word "Cell" as it is one normally reserved for spies and terrorists of whcih we (or at I) are neither. I am required to state that to the US immigration officials.

Yikes I'm leaving tomorrow!!!

I think we might rent a house for a few days, although the couch surfing idea is amazing.
Do you have 3.5 couches??? We could probably make do with 3. Depends on the size of those US sofas!!!

San Francisco - Help Wanted!

We are 5 UK first time burners coming to SF for 3 days before heading to Reno. Does anyone have any recommendations for hotel suites/apartments/hostels/B&Bs etc. that could house us all. I guess we would like something fun and young, in a good neighbourhood that wont break the bank. Any suggestions ...

That was our inital plan, but I have had some conflicting messages from people that claim to know whats what. However, I really don't want to stress out about it. We were always going to bring everything we needed to survive the week anyway, so if we find a camp, great, if we build a camp with our n...

Yeah we kind of figured that we'd camp alone, but then I met someone the other day who said it is important to find a camp beforehand. However, it looks like we have left it too late. We are driving from sf in a transit van, so we should be able to get all the stuff we need to make our own camp, and...

Reading this thread has put my mind at ease actually. We are 4 coming from UK 1 from Canada, and we were kind of freaking out about not having anywhere to camp. I totally agree with wedeliver: how these machines work is still a real mystery to me. How something as crude as a needle can interpret invisible grooves and transorm them into trumpets, string and even the human voice, is still beyond me, so don't even get me starter on CD or Mp3. The mind boggles....
