That shade structure worked for us really well this year too. I was sweating a lot the first couple of days, wondering if it would stay up... because a failure with that structure would be painful. But it stayed up and took a massive beating. The extra tarp thing was worthless for us. The stupid lit...

Did we ever find out the hours of operation for the Empire store? And, will there be any Olympia cans and/or Hamm's?
Also, water. Will there be water there? Thanks.

Beer/Soda Can Storage on Playa

We want to take cans of beer and soda to the playa. We do not want them to heat up to the point that they'll blow open or such. Does anyone have any feedback on issues, solutions, info?? Thank you.

I got a ticket in 05 by the "bike patrol" for failing to properly park my bike. I got the spanking of a life time.

I've seen people come out on motorcycles, carrying only what could be stored in their little side bags. That's always impressed me. What do they do for water?

Oh my goodness, thank you for taking the time to pass this along. I know I've seen info posted on here before but man if I don't hate this search function on eplaya. I won't say hate, I really don't like it.
Anyway, thanks a bunch.

Solar Power Links

Does anyone have some quick links to view anything related to solar power on the playa? It can be any link you feel is helpful. We're two people, we'd be using it to power our smallish camp. Just ipods and speakers and camera charging and what not.
Thank you for your help.

We are going to be in a 64 Corvair van that is air-cooled. The load will be full but we won't be excessive I don't believe. The BF has pretty much rebuilt the entirety of the engine and parts so he'll have spare this and that as much as he can. I'm slightly nervous traveling out in an old antique va...

Yeah it seems a bit clunky, this here search function.
I'm on the early arrival list this year due to my volunteering with the ice sales. I just wasn't sure what information I needed to avoid snags at the gate.

What's the best way to search a topic?

I search Early Arrival for example, and come up with so much stuff to sort through that it's impossible. Also, it would be that I've searched through a posting and it is mentioned only once, in 2006, when someone was being snarky about something, and it wasn't even useful info. When you ask a questi...

Thank you very much. That is quite detailed and I appreciate the feedback.
I'll check on Tribe, I know there's a lot of info out there on this. It's probably as well written about as "how much water should I bring" and "should I buy a cheap tent".
Still good to ask though.

I'm assuming you also posted this question on tribe?
I have a feeling there's some sort of tag hanging somewhere on that thing. There's got to be something inscribed somewhere on the poles. There has to be a way to identify it by some sort of marking, then google the shit out of it.

vintage auto on the playa

I know there's threads on here already on how to deal with your auto out on the playa. I've always hitched a ride with friends and never had to worry about the upkeep of my own vehicle. This year my boyfriend and I are heading out there in a 64 Ford Econoline panel van. MAYBE. But I'm trying to disc...
