Poker on The Playa a reality this year

We will be hosting 15/20min Texas Hold'em Tournaments at 8:30 & Esplanade. We'll be dealing Tue-Sun afternoons and whenever we're too pooped to go out and find our own fun. Look for the 10x10 tent adjacent to Shack of Sit. How does it work? No money, of course. Put what you want in the center of the...

Fashion Show Thurs 4:00

Earth Guardians will host their annual recycled/restyled fashion show. Last year brought in some incredible creative & sexy costumes. Proud of your costume? Come sign up in advance. Have more than one costume? Models will be available. I know one of mine looked so incredible on the model I had to fo...

Pickles

I got the BEST photo of Joe & I giving you the jug of my homemade jalepeno garlic dill pickles. I gave out of full case of those puppies. Must have been 8 gallons. Sadly, didn't make any this year. Will try in 2012.

Shack of Sit, too

I'll bring mine back this year, but it will be more specific/easier to find.
It will be under the poker table. Yes, we will be having regular Texas Hold'em Tournaments, right on the esplanade this year.

a fine idea

what makes BM great is that not all ideas need to be for the majority. Good grief, what we DON'T need is more alcohol, drugs, & techno music. I've been sporatically part of a Socrates group at Lake Tahoe. Died off, but it's a problem up here with most folks up this ways being part-timers. I think my...

pickles

I have to applaud your concern about enough pickles on the playa. I was the pickle lady last year...I took a case of quart-sized jars of my homemade Jalapeno Garlic Dill Pickles and chilled them overnight before gifting them in the heat of the day. One jar went on the Art Tour bus, one went to the p...

well said

This was my first year. Even with earplugs, I found the constant blaring of the same music to interfere greatly with the varied experience I was looking for. They were musical bullies and no one stood up to them in a way that mattered. The fact that no one seems to be able to come up with a solution...

RV windows

I'd read tips on covering RV windows to keep out the dirt. We went one step further & decorated the coverings to match our camp. If you stenciled or drew something distinctive in one of the windows, it could be something to look for.

We did snowflakes for Snowflake Village.

My box is official!

I listed my letterbox at AtlasQuest.com...using Black Rock City, NV as the general address. I used a pretty generic clue for the specific site in the camp since I can't place it until I'm actually there...and there's an actual there there. I decided to use name-tag sized labels instead of a big book...

yes, they are gorgeous

I AM a seamstress. Started out making wedding gowns back before evolution started. Anyway, I think these flags are all about the shape of the fabric & the important part is sewing a header for the pole to be inserted. Then they would need to be attached somehow so that the flag did not just fly off ...

sounds good to me

my granddaughter carved her first stamp and placed a letterbox on my property at Lake Tahoe. We back up to a busy road and there is no fence. We've had several visitors already. That said, I think it would be a good thing if any boxes placed at BRC would include a stamp pad. That would mean that tho...

pickles??? who knew?

This will be my first year. I'm not up to doing whatever it takes to hand out free pickles to everyone, but you've convinced me to bring a case of my homemade pickles for my campmates. Jalepeno Garlic Dill. They took 2nd place at the Nevada State Fair last year.

need used carpet???

There is a casino in Reno remodeling their hotel floor-by-floor. Dumpsters are being filled by the ugliest bright aqua & hot pink tropical print carpet you'll ever see.

If you have the ability to pick this up and store it, email me & I'll put you in contact with them.

joint project?

I love messing with tins. Took a course on how to use chemicals & torches to rust them - it would obscure any printing/labels, too. I do a lot of mixed media work. If you're interested, maybe we could join forces in creating gifting items? I'm not too far from your neck of the woods. northshore of T...

SCRAP

I LOVE the SCRAP in Portland. That's the only one I've been to, and I'm lucky to get to Portland once a year. There's nothing like that in the Reno area that I know about--and since my house is on the market so we can move to Boulder, I won't be starting one here.

can you use a lot of CDs?

my local librarian told me she has a like a grocery sack full of used CDs that can be had for the asking. This is at Lake Tahoe, but I could bring them into Reno or Carson City.

larger theme camp

Dork is right, I need to attach to a larger camp. Turns out I have that option and it might just be the perfect camp to attach to. windows?

if you cut out a window or two, burners could pose behind the bus as if they are a passenger. Holes, or large holes called a window would provide wind resistance, also.

Poker Camp?

I've been toying with something I can do on a personal scale in a 10x10 tent that would invite participation. I have a real poker table. Since money is outlawed on the Playa, I thought I could conduct sequential 15min tournaments where the participants put "something" in the middle of the table to p...

My tootsies can only hold up to a couple hours of walking, even with special shoe inserts/supports. RENT CARS IN RENO

I always rent the cheapest, smallest car listed with a rental company. They rent more of these than they have and are forced to upgrade some number of reservations in order to honor them.
