Re: Pearly Wisdom for Virgin Burners;
Thanks for the list brigitami I've added it to my collection. What are the mylar strips though? I tie them (tight) to people's guy wires or tent lines so nobody trips over them. I think when you are a virgin, it's all about surviving it. And learning about radical self-reliance. What scared me was ...

Pearly Wisdom for Virgin Burners;
It wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. I almost chickened out 3 weeks before. I'm so glad i didn't. Burning Man changed my life a hundred times to wonderful... Something that got me there in the end was This List which i lamenated and kept in a backpack by the door. And I knew that, no ...

my UGGs and i used to have a love-hate relationship. I loved them back when people thought they were lame and I got stares from wearing them out and about (sooooo comfortable). I loved them back then......but then they became popular.....and popular with the WRONG GROUP! I put them away because ever...

I don't think I'll be indulging. Lame as it sounds, I'm high on life. Thumbs up for "high on life"......It's a goal that I am reaching for myself (not lame at all). As far as being concerned about going into BRC when you are already in a great relationship, I've seen a lot of couples in our camp co...

waiting in the line sucks....its so frustrating because its RIGHT THERE and you can't go in yet. we (busload of 13) got there super early last year but it was mostly because our driver got really excited and just kept driving so we didn't really stop. we were shooting for the midnight open but all o...

Every year is different. Yeah, there's nothing like your first year (the awakening) if Burning Man is in deed your thing. I remember the exact moment that I got that "Home" feeling my first year....it did feel like coming home....it's amazing there is nothing else like it (':cry:') But nothing will ...

I made ashtrays out of blank mint tins that I painted and decorated. I would gift these mint tins/ash trays/stash boxes/moop recepticles to anyone I saw smoking without an ashtray Not only a gift given with a smile and a hug, but a hope for a cleaner playa. I love that idea and like what was said (...

I gift "Kyle Lighters" because everyone is always looking for a lighter (they tend not to MOOP). Months before bm me & my sisters spend do "craft nights" and hot glue fabric and buttons and fur and shells & stuff onto bic lighters. They are called "Kyle Lighters" because our friend Kyle (who doesn't...

Earthdance 2008: I was sitting with a friend watching the people pass by in the camping area. I hadn't quite decompressed from my first burn and it was comforting to see the little puffs of playa dust drift in the clear air every time one of us set up a tent. The bands & DJs that year scanned the ma...

welcome Britz! All I have to say is "Prepare to be amazed". I waited almost a decade for my first burn too and it pretty much changed my life. I am also a planner by profession, and I think the answer to your question (theme camp or go it alone) really depends on the type of person you are. I lasted...

The Sportsman's Guide sells a 13 foot tripod stand for about $160. It has a capacity of 300lbs, so is one person only. Even has a padded swivel seat. I would need something that could hold more people. My objective is to provide a beacon for the lost & weary as well as being a nice place to share a...

I've always worn my soft extended wear contacts on playa...but never never take them out.....I just keep a little bottle of saline on the belt and douse douse douse. i took them out one time to clean (washed hands, inside car) and yep, the dust got in somehow and bugged for the rest of the week. I've gotta try that! thanks for the tip. I've "yarned" my hair the last 2 years. I have long thick straight hair that is super prone to dryness. The yarn seals the hair from the dust, its heavy when wet (i wash my scalp a couple times a week) but dries up nice and light (or as light as dreads can be...

I need to build a tower (not on a van) and i need cheap & easy and, as much as I would like to be, I'm certainly no boy scout :) so, what IS the deal with scaffolding? There's certainly a lot of it around (both on playa and in this world). My friend said its easy to put up.....but how high can i saf...
