Cleaning years-old post-playa gunk?
Busy life finally parted just long enough for me to note that the spokes on my bicycle wheels are gray and crusty. This won't do. What is your favorite way of cleaning wheel spokes quickly and effectively of the sort of rust you get from neglecting to clean your machine before storing it away? Any a...

Running the gauntlet
Questions / concerns I didn't find answers for. My old truck being a rolling pile of equipment violations, I wonder if anyone knows just what will be checked should I get pulled over. My plate won't be obscured, my trailer and roof will be packed well, and I won't have felonious substances. But stuf...

Re: Handcar Regatta in Santa Rosa?
That date makes no sense. Sunday Aug 25 is the day so many natural participants will be on the road to Burning Man or already on playa. I certainly won't be going to Santa Rosa anywhere near that date. Too bad.

Re: Burnal Equinox 2013
Another yay for Nevada City. I came here to learn about SF's event. Despite being at the locus of BMan activity, I often find SF events disappointing. Maybe I haven't been to enough of them, but there's something big city unfriendly about the place. Granted, since I grew up within sight of it, I mig...

Re: Medicinal marijuana risk
Thanks all for the replies. This wasn't for me but for a friend for whom I was considering taking the risk of possession, since in my scenario a search driven by probable cause (cop sees pain -> conversation with cop) would lead to the friend and not to me. But it has been made abundantly clear that...

Medicinal marijuana risk
I understand that marijuana legally prescribed in California is not legal to possess in Black Rock City. The following scenario comes to mind. - Person with a condition that requires medicinal marijuana displays symptoms of pain - A LEO notices and asks what's the trouble, asks if they have medicati...

Electric-assist trike question
So, just making sure. A tricycle with pedals that also has an electric motor needs no special admission or handicapped placards or anything, correct?
I fear last-minute bureaucratic tangles, yes, even when dealing with the BMan org, fancy that.

[quote="FIGJAM"]This was the cheapest I found. The tires are a little narrow, so I would have a shop put on some 2.125 rims. Re: Bicycle question, three-wheelers??
This is a good thread. My friend (first-timer) has developed a badly-timed game leg that precludes much walking or pedaling or standing on a scooter. So an electric-assist tricycle seems to be the answer. The Joyrider looks great but I think we're about out of time for expensive items that need ship...

Re: Electric scooter recommendations?
I just realized that the game leg might not support standing on a scooter, or having to put a foot out when stopping a bicycle. She will need an electric tricycle. May invest in one and then playa it up as time allows. I've never used an electric bi or tricycle and wonder how necessary it is to do a...

Electric scooter recommendations?
Friend of mine, a first-timer this year, has developed some issues such that she may not be able to walk or bicycle much. An electric scooter would solve her problem. Has anyone experience enough to make a recommendation? Thanks.

Acceptable non-invited motorized vehicle question
The MV page isn't clear enough, and the rules tend to evolve. Somewhere there must be a description of what motorized vehicles do not need registration as an MV. For ex, motorized wheelchairs do (or might) need a license, but electric tricycles do (or might) not. I didn't apply to bring my MV becaus...

Question about MV registration
Mine was invited last year. This year I'm building an improved version, using lessons learned. It is not built yet so there can be no photographs. Will it be helpful or will it be confusing to the selection team if I include (potentially modified) pictures of my existing MV? This would be to illustr...

When you refer to Pakistan, who do you mean? There are many Pakistans, and we must engage in their dangerous dance of keeping the rival factions at each others' throats rather than at the nuclear buttons. This operation did not reveal "Pakistan"'s collusion with "the enemy" so much as the multi-laye...

Seconding Pink on the octahuts! I've visited RVs at BMan but I can't see actually taking one. First two years I slept in the bed of my pickup and was extremely comfortable.
