This link might be helpful for you. Looks like there are three rest stops along the way, however one may still be closed. It is my understanding that you can stay at one rest stop for a maximum of 8 hours. Check them out before you head up. Ill be at one of the three in the old school ambulance :) h...

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I think im going to take this route afterall. At least for the ride up. I think it will be nice to avoid all the hills of the 395. And im just a cruiser so not too worried about getting pulled over. Cant wait to see you all out there and thank you Dr. Pyro...

Ever take the 95 from the south?
Hello all, I am coming from Southern California and im wondering if anybody has any experience taking the 95 through Nevada instead of the 395 all the way to the 80 in Reno? The site calls it the "Spooky Desert" option, and it seems nice since theres fewer hills to travel through as opposed to the 3...

Definately the scariest people on the road I saw were the rental rv drivers. I avoid them like the plague. Last year was my first burn and there were far too many breath taking moments when idiots driving 30' of terror jump out of line and try to pass in the head on, only to swerve back in line and ...

I wish you the best of luck with your design. I tried to figure out a way to have a tower above my van similar to yours, but after much thinking and question asking, it just doesnt seem worth it. This year I will have a tower made of pallet racking a few feet from my van so I can still walk on top, ...

Well 2009 was my first burn and the day I got home I began planning and saving for the 2010 burn. Ive put away enough, but now school scheduling wont allow to know if im going until Aug. 6, but still I save and plan. Just picked up a 1992 GMC ambulance with only 38k for $200 :) My playa home is in i...

I say no to the folding bikes just because usually they have very skinny tires and on the playa, you want the biggest footprint you can have for easier peddling. I say a cruiser is the way to go. More important than anything though is a comfortable seat! The tush gets raw very fast when sitting on a...

You def want to prep it before and give it a good cleaning after. My bike last year made it all week. But when the tranny on our 1970 Dodge RV blew on the 5 freeway, we had the brilliant idea to ride our bikes downhill on the shoulder to the next exit about two miles away. It made it down, but the p...

what we did last year was we bought an army surplus parachute for about $40, put an e-z up next to our rv, then tied the shute to the top of the rv, pulled it over the ez up, then staked it to the ground. The slits in the shute let in just enough sunlight, while allowing the wind to pass through it....

Ya id agree that food, shelter, and water are the essentials. If you have a stove, I say pancakes for breakfast, grill cheese for lunch and spagetti for dinner. You can do this all week and keep it pretty cheap. Goggles, bandana, and lights are also a must! Already said, but dust storms at night can...

Question about popup tent trailers..
Hello all! Ive been watching craigslist for a used popup tent trailer and you can get smoking deals on them, around $400 for one from the 1980's. It would be nice since theres a sink, stove, beds, and table all in one small trailer. However, I am a bit worried if the canvas and mesh windows will be ...
