In Response to Power Chair

First, let me say how happy I am that the Black Rock City Department of Mobility exists. They provide a service that helps many Burners with disabilities gain a greater access to the Playa. Second, I understand that "Powerchair" is unhappy with my decision to go elsewhere for this year's Burn, inste...

I agree with the idea of guidelines. Last year I noticed some ramps on the temple. Too steep to roll, but ramps nonetheless. My goal is to eventually work with Burning Man and burners to create an entity that provides appropriate information/access/incentives to camps who are accessible. It would be...

Burners with Disabilities needed for a documentary!!!

Hey everyone. I'm working on a short documentary on Burning Man 2010 and I'd love to find individuals with disabilities to interview and see how they get around the burn. Especially those who use wheelchairs. If anyone fits this description and is interested in participating... or knows of anyone wh...

Count Me In!!!

Actually, it's ironic...

I'm on the board of the Chris and Dana Reeve Foundation to Cure Paralysis. Chris was and will always be Superman. So... It will be a great honor to contribute to this world record!!!

Playa Access

Hey, Last year was my first experience at Burning Man. I use a wheelchair and brought a handcycle to access the playa. Overall, a good experience. Good not great. I stayed with the BRC Dept. of Mobility, and they were able to supply some motorized chairs on a limited basis. Mostly for the "walking w...

Gearing Up

Hey Wayne, Thanks again for all of the work you're putting into this camp. I can't wait to be a part of BRC Mobility and the Burning Man experience. I'm excited about capturing BM access and producing some interesting video that sheds light on disabled culture at the burn. We will arrive at dawn on ...

Disabled Burners Documentary

Hey everyone! This year, I will be documenting playa life for those with disabilities. Access, accomodations, personal stories, etc. It's an aspect of Burning Man that rarely gets coverage. It's also a slice of playa life that offers many interesting stories. Many individuals with disabilities would...

Hey Gargoyle. Yeah, I've been in touch with Wayne and really looking forward to the burn. Wayne's a great guy. Really working his butt off to get this thing going. I'm currently awaiting media approval for my project... fingers and wheels crossed. I'm still in the stages of getting info. on the burn...

Handcycle

Hey! Thanks for the replies. Any feedback is fantastic! I purchased my handcycle from a friend, who also has paralysis. It's an Australian Company called Greenspeed. I like this bike because it has fat tires. Unlike most road handcycles. This handcycle also has a wide range of gears which means I ca...

Disabled Access

I've been following this thread and am really interested in meeting individuals with disabilities at this year's Burning Man. I'm a paraplegic and will be bringing a handcycle in addition to my chair. I will also be shooting some video. Hopefully I will be able to get permission to shoot video with ...

Thank you!

Definitely bringing the fat tires. Thank you! I will definitely connect with Mr. Fixit and the Hot Wheelz Camp. As for the focus, I want to cover all disabilities. And I'm really glad that all abilities are represented at this event. Furthermore, I agree about mass transit. That seems to be a reoccu...

Newbie looking for information regarding DISABLED ACCESS!

My name is Stan and this will be my first time at Burning Man. I am an extremely active wheelchair user (adaptive sports and rec) and am planning on bringing a handcycle to the burn. I'm currently trying to explore all avenues of playa and camp access. Ideally, I'd like to get the most out of my Bur...
