Name & Pics of 2009 Camp?

Does anybody know the name of a camp in 2009 that featured a long stage outside featuring a play, a huge tent with bar and plush, classic furniture in groupings, lots of traditional artwork and statuary, and had a drawing every night for a night's stay in one of their several glam camping tents with...

Glug, glug, gluggggggg.................

I'm NOT saying it's true! But I read somewhere that Black Rock Desert is on a fault line that could liquify the playa's surface if there was an earthquake on the fault. So maybe one day we could all have the same experience as walking on your vat of corn starch. (It would be even more troublesome th...

Kvon, it was wonderful to meet you on the playa. Also, thank you so much for the wonderful meal you invited me to with your campmates. Gerlach selling water this year

You can buy water in Gerlach this year, if that helps you. From The Jack Rabbit Speaks-8/11/2010: PURCHASE WATER IN GERLACH Ranger Keeper also writes: "The Gerlach GID, our local town governing body, will be selling potable water for filling up RVs and water tanks of any size starting August 27th. Dimensions of block ice?

I'm determined to keep my melted block ice in a container that keeps it clean enough to drink rather than let it become sludge at the bottom of the cooler. ePlyans say zip lock bags are not well sealed, so I want something better for my ice/water. Those who use block ice from varous vendors, do you ...

1/2 inch iron pipe for stakes

I've tried every place I can think of to find 3 foot spikes others can almost at the nearest convenience store. Absolutely no luck! I'd rather not use rebar. I've come up with the idea of using 1/2 inch iron pipe in 3 foot lengths to use as stakes (driven halfway into the playa) to slide over the 1 ...

Sauna water stench from hell!

If anyone wants to boil gray water off, there's a chance you'll gross yourself out so much you'd go to the porta-potties for fresh air. I was once in a sauna heated with a wood stove. I was feeling great after washing myself down with some nice, clean water. But I wanted the sauna hotter. All I had ...

Nail Spikes/Stakes or Playa Staples ever failed?

There's somewhat of a debate regarding rebar vs. nail spikes/nail stakes, which I've tried to learn about on ePlaya. There have also been a few discussions about the value of Playa Staples. I'd like to cut through some of the debate and get some real experiences (albeit anecdotal) by simply asking i...

Does anybody have any recommendations about if they got by without their C-PAP once in the desert? I've seen C-PAPs that run on DC using a vehicle cigarette lighter outlet.
