Re: Tell me about your Regional... why should I go?

I'm the UK. We have Burning Nest (https://www.burningnest.co.uk/) in May. Also the largest Decompression event outside of SF in London in November . Nest is in a beautiful private estate in Devon. This year was 500, next year more with room to grow. This was the 7th one this year. But why not just t...

What is wrong with doing a lottery next time this way?

Full disclosure: I have tickets to BM 2019, so this is not written by someone who just missed out in the sale. But I did take part in the sale for some friends who couldn't be online then, so witnessed the horrors firsthand and didn't get tickets. I can fully understand and relate to all the frustra...

Unfortunately, I'm unable to get the time away to help with the construction, but I'll be very happy to contribute to the fundraising effort.
Thanks! Hopefully fundraiser details soon.

Is there a waiting room for the main sale still?

Just seeing what the protocol is for later today - if the "waiting room" exists for those trying to access before the stroke of the hour, what time it opens, if there's any advantage to being in it or not. My assumption, if those in it get put straight into the queue at "random" positions at the mom...

Re: Misappropriation and commodification of BM camps

Oh, and where did you get this idea? As far as I know camps at burning man are not allowed to use their names off playa for commercial events unless it’s a fundraiser. Hi, Just following up on this. The rule comes from the BM Org. I've been in touch with our regional contacts who have confirmed thi...

Re: Misappropriation and commodification of BM camps

Is it wrong for them to do that? I'd be interested in what the Org has to say about it, especially in light of this new forum. I think the vehicles can go where they want, that's fine. To me it's about the use of the BM name in something that is PURELY commercial. If it were a fund-raiser then I'd ...

Re: Misappropriation and commodification of BM camps

They're not using Burning Man or any related / peripheral event related subject matter to promote themselves, just the name of their art car. I've seen other camps / art cars do similar things as fund raisers. If the flyer said something like "Your favorite Burning Man art car!" or "As seen on the ...

Playascape - a giant interactive platform

Hi all, Cheese here in London. Bought quite a few large projects to the playa from the UK over the last decade (mostly mazes). This year, I'm taking a break from leading a project but still getting heavily involved. My crazy Brit friend, Alex Haw, is planning to bring a MONSTER piece to the playa. F...

Manish Arora appropriating art for his fashion show.

Lots of press about how "burner" Manish Arora has wowed Paris Fashion week with his new collection, "inspired" by BM. Except some pieces appear to have messages from the Temple on. And many have direct copies of art pieces which is just theft of IP if the owners didn't give permission. And there is ...

Re: Camping cooking equipment rental in Reno?

Not quite sure why this thread has resurrected but this was for 2017. What actually happened is some of the wonderful US burners who were part of my art crew donated a couple of stoves and basics to us. And we in turn donated those on the way out to the collection for the hurricane victims. So we di...

Re: Designated Group Sale: How does a virgin group access DGS?

Hiya. I'm a London-based burner. This will be my 7th Nevada burn this year. 1st year I brought a large art project (mad, I know, especially coming from overseas). I've brought large art for 6 out of 7 of them. In 2012 (where it all went a bit tricky with tickets for the 1st time, lottery, etc), I go...

Aw, thanks guys! This one's a bit different to 2012. On the one hand it's going to be bigger & harder to solve (glurk!). On the other hand it's more minimalist in construction and you can see right through it and get out easier. We don't have the moving doors this time but we DO have 30 bridges comp...

maze2016.JPG is our fiendish final design! The shaded squares are bridges over a tunnel. You go over the bridge so that you're crossing OVER the lines in that cell.
