Re: How I Got Kicked Out of Burning Man
I hope you made a formal complaint to the BMORG and the Ranger council. Unfortunately Rangers are people, too. As with any population segment, there will be good and bad. In my experience (both as a Ranger and a participant) some of them build their entire identity around it, and take things WAY too...

Oops! So I won't be wearing my belly dance costume either, back it goes!! What else do people wear that is moopy, but they missed the memo? I've been listening to pod casts and looking at pics, etc. I really don't want to be a mooper in any way shape or form. Also, on female pee devices- any recomm...

I have this disease. For two weeks, at least, I've been looking for the key to my bike lock. I KNOW I've seen it, I see it all the time but it's nowhere in my camping stuff, bike stuff, junk drawers....it was hanging on my fridge. Where I walk by it multiple times a day.

Thank you for not bringing feathers!! My other HUGE pet peeve is those GD f'ing "belly dance" scarves. Yeah, we get it, you're so cute, look at your butt, and thanks for making more work for people who care. I'll collect the coins by the handful, and hand them back to the people wearing them. I'm a freak about washing my face at burns because it will break out, if I don't - especially with the sunscreen. I don't moisturize, everything breaks me out. Plus hormones. Neck down, whatever, but if I break out my self-esteem plummets and I feel uncomfortable. So here's what works for me: I've f...

Re: Anxiety and Depression - should I go?
Odds are fair you will experience the lowest you didn't know you could go to, and the highest that will make you cry relief because you forgot what joy feels like. I have a saying, "a bad day at Burning Man is better than a good day in the real world." If you know that you'll be able to take care of...

Re: What items do you carry when walking the Playa?
This year I have a water bottle thingie on my bike, so I'll always have a bottle of water. Nice, warm, plasticy water...and I'm going to have carabiners attached to my bike to hold stuff so it doesn't go bouncing out...forgot I also try to carry safety pins and a small notebook for messages, notes, ...

Re: Playa Hair: Tips, tricks, and general accouterments
I love dry shampoo for burns, this is the brand I've been using. The big trick is to make sure you brush it through, so it can absorb the oil. And not to use too much, because it can build up like dandruff. I tried the spray kind, for brunettes, and did not like it at all. After a particularly diffi...

Craving shit you'd never eat or drink IRL is true. I don't drink soda. One year I wanted a cold Coke SO BAD it made me crazy. I have no idea why. But I bring a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, just in case (also goes great with booze). Oh yeah, that is sooooo good out there. I like an Orange Crush out there ...

Dry them out and burn them. You'll want some sort of mesh bag, properly secured; don't just lay them out in the sun where they'll get blown away for somebody else to deal with.

I'm not looking forward to the uncontrollable crying and sadness the hormones throw on me two days before it starts, and the extreme fatigue I experience the first day or two (regardless of how much sleep and rest I've had. The Eplaya Meet and Greet i s at least one guaranteed good time, to stand around and drink beer. They somehow make it feasible for shy people who don't know anybody to show up and leave with new friends. Can't guarantee any trans folk, but definitely some queers and assholes. And the other Eplayans...

Re: Good Advice for Virgin Burners
Pace yourself. Get some sleep. Go to sleep at 10 PM one night and sleep until dawn. Take care of your body so you don't burn out too early. This is one of the top tips I give my friends: take a day off. Pick a day and hang out at camp, put your feet up, let the burn come to you. Hang out with your ...

I've done something similiar, "Adopt-A-," where we had a bench and a big white board so people could write in whatever. Adopt a virgin, DJ, vegan, cranky lady, BOD member, whatever. Is excellent idea and if I can figure out what my "subject" would be, I'm also in.

New camp idea, "Queers with Beers." No, Queers with Beers and Steers, and you just hang out by a grill all day, drinking beer and cooking steak! I've been in nylon tents in the wind and they were quite NOISY. Are the canvas tents much (any ?) quieter ? Also, regarding tying the poles to a T-post or staking them down.....does that ruin the "wind dynamics" of the tent being able to bounce/sway with the wind ? Krly In my experience the canvas ...
