I attended this year solo from AL. I took a minimalist approach and it worked out great for me, I am easy and had some wonderful neighbors. I flew in to Sacremento, CA (saved me a few dollars) and rented a car to drive in (it was an awesome drive in, I-80 is a nice drive if you're not used to mounta...

he he I think the whole place was an oversized play park.
speaking of which, was the giant teeter totter ever operational?
I also found a merry-go-round that people were graciously spinning up to speed...that was fun too.

The slide of death was awesome. I went out there 2 if not 3 days and, made several trips down the slide on various objects without injury. I had great time out there every trip I made out there. I did see several people get burned and must say the naked folks are brave.

Do it, you won't regret it. I did it this year from AL solo and, it was great. Just show up, talk to some folks, make a camp and, have a blast. Let me clarify, show up prepared. Read all the first timers info and, any other survival guides you can find. That is what I did (in only six weeks) and I h...

I have a feeling that those phones are the ones that are mentioned in this thread..

When I originally read that thread I thought the conditions would provide a good test market for new technology. Note the coincidental 10k number.

And now that is has gotten this close...

Notice how the ePlaya has slowed down as some people have already left. The rest of us are getting ready to leave or, at least should be.
We can see the daily updates of the progress of the city so far.

It makes me wish I was leaving earlier.

I have not been to bm before but, one of the things I was really looking for ws turning the phone off and locking it in the glove compartment until I leave and, I will still do that. Now I get to tolerate rude folks on cell phones in the desart..?

I was looking at that as well, the site appears to give updates on a weekly basis? Looking at a map it looks that hwy 50 is an alternate route? Is the delay on 80 enought to consider taking another route instead?

I suppose begging is an option but, I'd prefer to use that as more of a last ditch effort. Perhaps right before I pass out from lack of ....something. I'll just get a small burner to boil water with and make instant.

This will be my first time attending bm and, I have some questions regarding coffee at center camp. I'm trying to figure out which is more feasible for my situation...buying it @ camp or making it myself. Is it decent? Can you get it 24/7? How much is the coffee?
