RhythmWave is very happy to be back on the block along Arno@5:00ish. Conceivably in the same (most excellent) spot at last year.
Please come dance with us!

Re: Who got tickets in the Directed Group Sale?
One of ours started in her Burner Profile and waited for a refresh to show the link. Never got it, so finally went to the email and got to the waiting room.
Sadly, however, at 12:48pm received the message that all tickets were sold.
Bitter sweet.

Re: Who got tickets in the Directed Group Sale?
Well, that wasn't so bad. About 10 minutes, overall. Two key points: (1) use the email link and bypass the Burner Profile, and (2) don't panic.

And not only are the fees utterly, ridiculously, exorbitant, I finally had to ASK. Been waiting patiently for a follow-up to the July 23 Placement email, which stated, "...the [vendor] pass is designed for vendors that have a need for frequent access to the 'outside world' , otherwise the ticket opt...

I wish JR would stop sending messages out until the waiting is over! I'm sittin here on pins and needles, checking my mail every ten minutes and I see the letters BM and think "THIS IS IT" and its a J.R. message!! OH NO, I've become a whiner) Now to vent,,, last year it was (whining) "BM was too bi...

But they did say they'd be arriving, so I'll trust they are doing what they can. You know, it could become an interesting problem.... What if, as seems to be implied, all the EA passes HAVE gone out, but for some reason are hung up in the tubes somewhere? Can that even happen? I haven't heard anyon...

I've been following this thread with keen interest and finally felt compelled to express my empathy.... Our camp of almost 100 did not get placement nor, of course, early arrival. Since being informed of that... ahem... oversight, we've been scrambling like veritable headless chickens trying to figu...

This guy has reviewed several routes from Seattle to BRC (not including via ashland or Sac'to) and has very detailed info. They all come thru Portland  http://gwally.com/directions/cat_routes.php Oops - his Route 4 is added this year and does not go through Portland. Great link, swampdog. Rou...

Argh. If you've been following this thread, you know that my camp didn't get placed this year. Of course, we assumed we would - we offer something very unique to the playa and have been placed the past two years in the same spot. So, of course, we assumed we would get placed again this year and made...

You think, "Hey, if we get 100 people to camp with us at $100 a pop, well damn. We could pocket $10K!" Of course, I'm not taking this personally, but it's worth noting that none of us is pocketing anything, let alone ten grand. And while I understand your point, sadly, those of us in the "core" don...

We do ask for each of our members to contribute $100 and 3 handles of booze as camp dues, though. We expect that to cover gas for our primary gear and people-hauling bus and trailer, gas for the generator, more booze, and will buy us a new 7000 watt generator this year. Everything else has been con...

This is not new. Nope. The URL is exactly the same as last year - just change the 8 for a 9. And last year's list never went away. So let's say you found it after the fact and made the connection. There's this year's list without being given a link. Just sayin'. Privacy or security through obscurit...

I've seen lots of examples of camps that were denied, but I'd like to give an example of a camp accepted if it might help others plan next year, ours was given a 100x200 lot on Esplanade. We have a beautifully, and artistically made 60 foot dome (not just a geodesic, but something hand-crafted), la...

Re: Metrics for placement
A 50x50 shade structure with a bamboo dance floor sounds awesome, but 130 people to build and operate that? While you may very well be right about why we were rejected, just for the sake of clarification our camp has about 85 people and we schedule two to three offerings (of dance, yoga, meditation...

I'm sure I'm not the only one with these feelings. So now we get to join the land-grab but this year it's not just a dozen tiny camps hoping to secure large parcels of land, but well over 100 small to gigantic camps. Gotta say this is the saddest news I've had in a long time... Apparently, the Plac...

I think that the disconnect is how many "theme camps" were actually accepted in the listing, versus how many got placed. Indeed. I just spent the past week entering our events on the Playa Events Calendar (in order to meet the printed schedule deadline), which was very accommodating in allowing me ...

Re: rejections
They are making the 12:01am landgrab even worse (while simultaneously asking us to spread out our arrival times). And since we'll be spending Monday and Tuesday setting up the basic needs of our camp, we'll have a lot less time to install the decorative features we had planned. Net result: LESS ART...
