For some reason it didn't make it into the Artery's map. But it was there in real life, at 8:45 just out from Pink Heart.
I took it down on Friday night since it was getting so ripped up I was afraid it would blow away completely. I'm in the process of repairing it for local events.

Re: Anyone have experience with a Clam ice fishing shelter?
I don't. I'm thinking about getting one.
It would be great if it allowed me to sleep later in the morning. My current tent heats up and gets light inside before the sparkleponies have galloped home.

Re: Fantastic Way to Seal Mesh Tent Screens
Good point bolamin. My tent has two big mesh doors that can be zipped open to reveal the mesh for ventilation or zipped closed to shut out the dust. I want to seal off the ceiling mesh. My first burn in 2009 I had a tiny triangle of mesh at the top of my 2 person tent and the fly acted like a dust v...

Re: Anyone have experience with a Clam ice fishing shelter?
Thank you Jovankat!
I totally get how to make a floor for it (I would use billboard vinyl rather than blue shreddie tarp).
But I'd like to hear suggestions for waterproofing it.

They should make you a moderator.
So, I can assume that Gorilla tape will hold up on the playa?

Gorilla Tape?
I hate duct tape. I hate how it ends up with sticky residue all over whatever it touches. But I'm considering taping nylon fabric over the mesh on my tent because I want to be able to remove it the rest of the year. I don't have any experience with Gorilla tape. Would it hold up on the playa? Will i...

Those super fancy Shift-Pod playa shelters look like a redo of a Clam ice fishing shelter. Has anyone tried one of these on the playa? http://clamoutdoors.com/store/clam/shelters/pop-up-hub.html they make a thermal one: http://www.basspro.com/Clam-Jason-Mitchell-Elite-Series-Thermal-5000-Ice-Shelter...

Re: Used Billboard Vinyl is Miraculous Stuff
The only kind I know of is true vinyl. No weave. But good to know for people who live in areas where there's both. Ask for, and pay for, the real stuff! Thanks for the tip Elliot. And thanks Figjam for the HH=66 tip. (and thanks for walking me through making a bucket cooler a couple of years ago. It...

Used Billboard Vinyl is Miraculous Stuff
So huge! So cheap! So easy to work with! I get it at the local billboard company. After they take billboards down they sell them. They come in three sizes: Big, Huge, and Ginormous. It folds up to quite compact. We use it as flooring for our whole camp. We used to use old carpet which was heavy and ...

Re: Playa dreams - 2015
Year round playa dreams since my first burn in 2009. The first few years they were pretty ecstatic. There was always lots of green trees and lush water (in my first such dream I found another entrance, off to the south. You had to wade in ankle deep water under huge cottonwoods trees). A few years a...

Re: Chuppah on the Playa
Sounds awesome... I worry that you're using heirloom stuff that can and might get trashed... I mean, are you good with that? I'm good with that. I have little doubt that it will get pretty beat, if not trashed. I can hoard all this beauty in a closet for years and never see it, or I can offer it to...

Re: Burning Man Weddings
I'm bringing an art project this year, a chuppah made from heirloom linens, wedding gowns and lace from my great grandmother, grandmother and mom. In case you want to tie in to ancient desert wedding tradition.
It will be in inner playa, 9:00 side. Artery will be able to tell you exactly where.

Chuppah on the Playa
I'm bringing an art project in 2015 (7th burn, virgin art project): a chuppah made from heirloom linens, wedding dresses and lace from my great grandmother, grandmother and mom. It's not just for playa weddings, it's for any sacred or profane ceremony, or just to get out of the sun for a spell. A s...

IMO most events that have banned them have done so due to concerns about them being uses as weapons.

Selfie Sticks?
I read Coachella has banned them.
I like this idea. Mostly because it's always better to ask a stranger to take your picture, but also because I don't want to watch the Temple (or anything else) burn through a forest of bright glowing screens on sticks.
Has the Org discussed this?

Illuminating Art in Deep PLaya
My Dear Know-It-Alls, I'm getting an art project together to bring to Deep Playa this year. I'm stumped by how to safely illuminate it all night long. It's a small shelter with a flat roof and open walls, about 8'x8'x8'. I need to illuminate it enough that it doesn't get plowed into by mutant vehicl...

The Post Office (Center Camp) is seeking the traditional spot held for them right next to Lamplighters! I adore the Center Camp Post Office. It looks like you're joining with the 9 and 3 this year? I took Kaos's advice and called Ticketfly. I waited on hold less than 4 minutes. The rep told me my tickets had shipped "the 28th or the 29th, I think". (I didn't get any confirmation email). I asked for a confirmation number, and sat on hold for a short time. The rep came back and said he would ema...

Re: do not forget to poop!
Last year our camp (Grandma Frum's Painful Candy, Drip Coffee and Bike Repair) hosted a little get together: Prunes With Grandma, on Thursday afternoon. We advertised it with flyers taped inside our neighborhood portapotties (the ones by DISTRIKT). We had lots of takers. Everyone is happy to be gift...
