Re: Deep playa art

I did a placed piece back in 06, so I am hardly an expert. It was called Five Minutes After, and was placed at five after the noon clock behind the man, but the placer had given my spot to a different piece. I was still in nearly the same spot, which was okay, and how I learned about the placing pro...

Re: Deep playa art

One thing about renegade art, be sure you aren't usurping placed art which may be late setting up. The Artery uses GPS and places markers on the ground, but these can be difficult to discern, even with a human guide. Registering as a drop in helps avoid this conundrum, so consider doing it that way....

Re: "Dont divorce your parakeet"

No huge changes here, but like BBadger, the event permeates our lives. Certainly has dictated what vehicles we purchased. But I tend to agree that someone with an established life they love shouldn't throw everything over for a handful of dust. Perhaps an unencumbered person who is at a juncture can...

Yeah, it was a challenging year in many ways.

Sounds like you need something other than an Esplanade super-camp. I've successfully avoided them for a very long time. Back streets is where it is at.

My woke ain't your woke, so there's that.

What's up with 2018?

Hey, we are all decompressing, and the 2018 forums are not up and live yet. No, there is not a date set for that, but it will be well before the ticket sales. Patience, friends. In the meantime, hold your camp excitement for 2018 until the proper forums open. When they do, please read and follow the...

Re: Any Go/Weiqi players planning to attend 2018?

Our first year, we brought a friend along. He brought an entire box of books. Not just one or two, a boxful. Just something to lug out and back. We have a light up frisbee which has been back and forth to the playa for over ten years in our light box. A campmate might have used it once. Bring the se...

tent dustproofy.png There truly is tons of info on this already on epalya. Go search. Those are my pictures from 2007. When a big whiteout hit, everyone was out of camp. Our tent had the mesh covered with a clipped on quilt and was fine, zero dust. Had our campmates zipped up their tents, instead o...

Re: Best playa tent

Older thread, but an eternal question. My friends just got a baby Kodiak which fits under our clamshell carports. They are very happy with it, but the key is it works with the carport set up we already have. The Sibleys are pretty, but I haven't seen one in person. Not sure how dustproofy they are, ...

Splitting up the forums was awfully fussy and unneeded. A connections subfurom might be handy, suggest it to Trilo, see if it flies.

Using Water 4 times If you're really REALLY stingy with water (and you should be in the desert) you can make one quart of water pull "quadruple duty" with a reasonably sized basin/mess kit pot: 1) Brush Teeth (use very little) 2) Boil for coffee 3) Shave and wash once the boiled water coo...

Re: Unsure how to contact Lost and Found

I love doing the collages, they are fun. Sadly, I am out of cigar box lids, hopefully someone with access to a smoke shop or cigar store can hook me up. The Pokemon piece was done by my campmate Rarity. Yeah, I am very sad about Fernando. I really loved the work I had done on him, and what all the n...

Dear Idiot, I think you're doing it right. Looks like a fine outfit to me. My own personal favorite is an abaya, I also wear Mexican dresses and Hawaiian mumuus. All just fine. I wish we had out yukata out there this year, they would have been great camp wear in the hotter than usual heat. larry's c...

We took in a car camper, let her use one of our spare tents under the monkey hut. She would have been fine in the vehicle, but it is a spartan experience. Good for you.

Playa names happen when they happen. Mine didn't happen for years, until my nephew left me a note with Aunty Em spelled as Anti M, and my friends picked it up too. My husband still goes by his name, although sometimes he's called MyLarry to differentiate him from several other Larrys. Do not give yo...

We need a Clamshell Club. DSCF8315 - Copy.JPG But yes, find the tag for the carport on the cover, and order replacement legs direct from the manufacturer. Surprisingly inexpensive, but shipping will be the killer. Larry even fixed a Z Shade easy up canopy, one of the expensive ones, after it blew ov...

That sounds like a solid plan. Once you've settled in on eplaya, you can certainly ask various people their experiences with established camps. I have a tiny theme camp and get inquires now and then. Unfortunately, I can tell that they have not read a thing about my camp. LOL, we have five core memb...
